Virtual Quilting Weekend -- April 17-19

Good morning all! Sorry I'm late getting this thread started. I've been up and busy but in the kitchen. I hope many will be able to join in quilting this weekend. For newbies, we share what we're working on and post pictures if possible. Many quilters gain new ideas for projects from these weekends because we never have enough to work on already! Any questions, please just ask :)

I have several projects in process that I will hopefully complete this weekend. Can't wait to see what all of you are working on.

Jeanne S 04-17-2015 05:53 AM

I am so sorry I won't be participating this weekend, but both my daughters and grandson (all who live out of town) will be visiting all weekend. Have fun without me and get LOTS done!!

PenniF 04-17-2015 06:31 AM

What a coincidence....my DD is working from home today...so i am not watching the grand-baby.....started at my first project already. Hoping to get my place mats of the month for May done and then to make progress on the quilt for DGD's teacher. Thanks for hostessing once again Heather....can't wait to see what everyone's working on.

Oh goody! Hope this encourages me to finish off the machine quilting in my fatcatpatterns penguin quilt. I'm also working on hand quilting a sun bonnet sue. If the weather here is as good as the forecast I might have a hard time staying inside to quilt! Look forward to everyone's photos.
dedemac - great projects!

Yep, I'm in! Working on hand stitching the binding to the back side of my Jane Stickle quilt and doing more machine work on the Hunter's Star! Lovely spring weather in the PNW, so will take many fresh air breaks!
Please enjoy whatever you do today!

SewExtremeSeams 04-17-2015 09:06 AM

I am finishing up things for a baby shower tomorrow. Love looking in to see what everyone is working on.

Sisty88 04-17-2015 10:31 AM

I'm working on a bargello for my parents because they are away this weekend and I'm making it for them in secret. Cut all my strips this morning using my lovely sizzix and have joined one set of strips together. I have 4 more sets to join tomorrow and then get everything hidden away in time for their return! I even got my friend to take away the offcuts to throw away so that my parents wouldn't find them in the bin! If I manage to get all my strips joined tomorrow I'll post a picture :-D

Love seeing what everyone's working on so keep the pictures coming!

Dedemac, your gfg is beautiful! It'll be fabulous!

Kitsie, love the red and white, awesome colour combination!

ManiacQuilter2 04-17-2015 10:55 AM

I am working on a table runner for a wedding in May. I have to get it done by Monday. Today I am putting the borders on and tomorrow will be quilting. Hopefully Sunday I can get the binding done. Will post a photo when the borders are done. Also working on an applique chicken for the local senior quilt show that is also in May. Wish I could find some energy in a bottle. Oh to be young again.

lynnie 04-17-2015 11:24 AM

I just now finished the top for the April Aurifil mini. I want to finish it this weekend. I was determined my theme would be April showers and the design worked with my already chosen fabrics.

Sorry it is slightly fuzzy. Trying to take a photo around two inquisitive felines seems to be getting harder every day.

I have some fabric ice dyeing in the kitchen sink and I hope to also get a tote made this weekend. So, for me, great weekend to have a virtual quilting weekend.

I'm seeing some great projects being shown off so far.

Love everyone's projects so far. I just finished the blocks for this patchwork in a lattice/trellis/argyle/whoknows summer quilt, it'll have a flannel backing, no batting and SITD. I'll probably do three borders to attain the size I need (queen) but will wait to see once they're all sewn together:

Doggramma 04-17-2015 01:59 PM

I have one quilt that needs a binding, and I need to add a couple more jelly roll strips to my "Target" quilt. There's a new neighbor baby too....

Yes, Penni, I've posted many pictures of her! Took about a year off, but its been a journey in which every day (almost!) brings a new challenge! Many of my pictures were posted, but here are a couple. A few weeks should bring a post with a picture of the finished "lady"! Will be a very bitter-sweet day but at least "she" will be just 6 feet away from my recliner!

I just started my DJ in February. I hope mine is as lovely as yours.

pjaco 04-18-2015 02:58 AM

I love it!

Raggiemom 04-18-2015 03:51 AM

Love the quilts that have been pictured. The Hunter's Star is very pretty. I worked on two different quilts yesterday, the quilting is finished. Just need to do the binding which will hopefully be tomorrow afternoon. Today I'm headed to a Sew In sponsored by our guild so I have a bag full of projects to work on. So I won't be checking back in until late this afternoon. Hope everyone has a wonderful productive day and all the sewing machines work flawlessly :)

quilterpurpledog 04-18-2015 04:03 AM

I have read these post for fun and I think I will join in. I have a lot to do. I need to work on a skateboard quilt I am making for a grandson who is graduating from High school. I have lots of other projects planned-so I'd best get busy!

QuiltingVagabond 04-18-2015 04:05 AM

Aww, I have to work this weekend :( I will check in to see everyone else's projects though. Sew on ladies & gents!

I've just finished the 3rd of the 5 strip sets for my secret bargello, but I've run out of thread, so I've had to pack it away for now and will get the last 2 done the next time my parents are away. Please excuse the wrinkley fabric, I haven't pressed them yet as I need to work out which direction to press in and will do it when I've got them all sewn!

Took a break from laundry and will quilt a bit more of this one.
This is not a UFO for a change, just pieced it last month. It's nice to take a break from all the UFOs and work on something new :o)
Love to see everyone's projects!

Raggiemom 04-18-2015 02:55 PM

Had a great time at the guild's sew in today (and enjoyed some delicious snacks!). I finished a table runner top, the blocks for a quilt, and sewed together strips for two other projects. Hope to finish a couple of those projects tomorrow afternoon after church. See you then.

lynnie 04-18-2015 03:30 PM

such beautiful works of art from everyone. didn't work much today on anything. it was nice so I went to a small zoo by us to go see all the animals. LOVE that penguin one.

Oh, so many lovely things being worked on! I may have to put the penguins on my "to do" list, along with a tree skirt.

Sisty88, great fabrics. I am working on a Surf Song bargello by Eileen Wright. Here is my progress so far ... it will be a lap size quilt.

thimblebug6000 04-18-2015 04:56 PM

Beautiful bargello fabric choices!

We HAVE to see a picture of this when it's done!

sewbizgirl 04-18-2015 08:45 PM

Lovely projects and photos! Chester, love your Smoky Mountain Stars. I made that pattern with old shirts too, and it's my favorite snuggle quilt for the couch.

I made 4-patch posey blocks all day. They are so much fun and addictive! Now I have to plan some interesting sashing to do them justice.
