Heather thank you for the VQW, I still have to figure out the size of my borders to get the quilt to the proper size for church, but the top is together. I was able to get one side of the binding for the Christmas wall hanging stitched down also. I'm happy with my progress this weekend.

No more progress on my Cleopatra's Fan. My drive fizzled out but will have to rev up tomorrow. So many lovely finishes this VQW. You are such good motivators. See y'all in May!

I have not been an active member but am in a time where I can start to join in the fun.
Could you explain what a Virtual Quilting Weekend is? Many thanks!! |
Ashcrove VQW is for anyone that wants to join here just a way to post progress and achievements for the weekend we can all encourage each other and post throughout the weekend A little incentive for some of us (me) to get some projects done

I managed to finish these three projects during the VQW. Thanks for hosting and the encouragement to keep on target for finishing. Took me a while to remember how to post a photo.

Since we are still chatting and posting pictures, I did re-do my green Hawaiian back. Did I need to?? -- no. But I'm happier with the end result and I didn't have anything else to do at my sewing group. Picture 1 was already posted here, but for comparison posting again -- I don't like how the flowers at the seam made noticeable scallops... I tried putting together the various sides without adding more fabric, but none of those really worked, so I pieced in a cut at the top, matched the flowers together (they actually go different directions) and even with the long seam, am happier.
For Ashgrove, I was a happy solo quilter for decades and then I discovered the joys of quilting with other people. VQW is similar to my Tuesday (real life) sewing group, we come with whatever we are doing and share. Some of the projects are really wowsers, and others more mundane. But when we are dealing with low motivation or loss of mojo, we can often be inspired by someone else's mundane project or at least get pushed to doing something ourselves. Plus I find by announcing what my plans are at the beginning helps me be more accountable about getting them done -- but with zero outside pressure. |

I was trying to get this one done during our last VQW, but today was the day. Cleopatra's Fan finished at 92 X108 and it is not mine. A friend asked me to make this for her. Her mother, who was a marvelous quilter I understand, passed away just as she was starting this quilt. "Sure, I can finish the quilt", I say and two years later, I finished the top. Lots of lessons learned but I do love the pattern and would do it again with other color choices. I little birdie told me that after it is long armed it will be donated for an auction item for a hospice the mother was involved with.

WMUTeach, I really liked this quilt when partially complete and Love it now that it’s together! I can certainly see why you would make it again.
