Happy Easter to you as well!

Got my binding done. Glad to be able to take a finished project to quilting this week!

Here's my other back/minor top fix for the weekend. This is my "Tropical Eclipse: Eye Protection Required" project made from various Hawaiian scraps. Some were cotton, I'd call it clothing weight bark cloth?? Some rayons, some unknown blends, some pure poly crepe but with textures. Has been quite awhile since I worked with non-cottons and these were slippery and fraying all over the place. Probably will be "fun" to do the quilting on, but it amuses me.

I deliberately didn't match this fabric, but I wish I had paid a little more attention to my cuts and how they came out. I have yardage left so could have offset one side by like 6 inches so the flowers on the seam line wouldn't have matched, but they would have connected (with one up and one down side) and would have disguised the seam a bit better. Oh well. This is just a porch quilt to amuse me and it is doing that!

As this is Easter weekend and my husband doesn't (won't) cook I'll be lucky to walk through my sewing room as I'm spending too much time in the kitchen. I had wanted to sew all my batting scraps together, but they are still in piles according to brands and types, but I won't get to them...maybe tomorrow. Some will end up big enough for baby quilts, some for Kennel Quilts, throw pillows etc. Need to use it up as much as I can. To those that get to sew today...may the seam ripper never touch your hands!

WMYTeach. OMG!! Those blocks are amazing!! Did you piece them by machine or by hand? I am in awe!

I pieced the blocks by machine. A friend of mine has an Acuquilt Go and allowed me to cut the blocks with her machine and template. The boon is the Acuquilt cut pieces have little notches like on a garment pattern. Boy oh boy, does that make a HUGE difference in piecing the blocks. I would like to make another in jewel tones later this year.

I have some examples that were hand pieced and well, they were not accurate. I am not that skilled with hand piecing, so machine is the way to go for me. It took a few blocks to be able to whiz through the block. Yup, I have a few orphans that were made early-on and were not an accurate 12 " but close enough to not toss out.;)

Lots of great work everyone! I have been jumping back and forth between projects but finished the hand quilting on this little one, have washed the rest of the tartan and will hopefully have enough to piece a binding…if not….hmmmm, back to the drawing board 🙄
I should have smoothed it out before snapping a photo but you get the idea.

Focus Fruit - Cali & Co, Corey Yoder challenge. Made two block #4, released yesterday

Aby Quilts - Optimism, twin 12 block focus fabric made the last block

dug around & found the sashing fabric to the 81 patch, blocks finished June 2023.

I had 6 blocks sewn together from June 2023. I sashed & attached 4 more blocks, so now 10, 2x5 four rows to go.

@WMUTeach , Love those curved fern blocks. Nice job.

No machine sewing today, but we had a nice dinner with our friend and lots of talking. This evening we have been watching movies and I have been stitching the binding down on the Christmas wall hanging. Here is the picture of it before I sewed the binding on. I will have some machine time in the morning.

thimblebug6000 those Scotties are too cute for words.

quiltmouse you are on a roll!!

Love everyone's pictures, and have a great evening.

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend, whatever you worked on! And it seems there was quite a variety of work done--quilting, concrete and cooking :). While I didn't get much quilting done, we did make some decisions about the move and the house so I feel like a lot was accomplished here. I'm off to a quilt shop today to use their Accuquilt cutter to cut backgrounds for some wool applique. I have the scallop die and will cut for several projects.

See you all next month!

It is always so nice to have this virtual get together. I really do feed on the mojo by those of us who currently have it! Thanks again for hosting the thread, Heather.

I have decided that while I can live with the Hawaiian back, I also have nothing to do at sewing group tomorrow, so I'll take out the seam. Was thinking of fitting on an extra piece so the designs matched better but realized that I also have the opposite sides to look at, as well as changing the up/down and maybe it will just work out.
