Just found this thread. Count me in for today and tomorrow. I'll continue downsizing by cutting kits for Comfort Quilts. When I get tired of cutting and clean off the table of the LA, then I'll quilt some UFO's for Comfor Quilts. So far in Dec, I've used 58 yds.

Great photos everyone, it really makes me happy to see what everyone is working on. I have my Quilted Hug project quilted now, so it needs the inside pockets (they need binding too) and then the binding all around...and then a front placket... the pattern calls for velcro closures on it but as these will be going to a care facility, I may put buttonholes and buttons.... have to think upon it. Raggiemom 12-21-2019 04:39 PM

So glad to see all of you working hard! And you're welcome :) I am glad to get the thread going, it helps keep me motivated. I didn't get any quilting done yesterday. Spent the day with husband celebrating his birthday. Just a low-key day hanging out together. Today we hooked up some electronics stuff. Now I have an Echo Dot in my sewing room which plays my XM Sirius radio. I did work on one of the BOM's today, assembling the top. Really hope to get that completely put together tomorrow afternoon.

Irishrose2, I'm glad you're able to quilt again.

Battleaxe--no white Christmas here either unfortunately. We're from upstate NY but have lived in Ohio for 12 years now and only once have we had a white Christmas here. I think we always had one in NY!

For those working on Bonnie Hunter--enjoy!

Sounds like there is sufficient interests so I will do a virtual quilting day for New Year's. I will probably start it Tuesday night in case anyone wants to get working early!

QuiltingVagabond 12-21-2019 05:58 PM

Merry Christmas to you Heather and all VQWers! I think I have cut enough 2 and 1 inch strips to keep me busy for awhile on the Omigosh quilt. Tomorrow I will know as the 2 inch strips need to be 2 inch squares - 3200 of them

The Quilted Cottage 12-21-2019 06:08 PM

I love seeing all your quilting beauties! Love those cookies! Yum!
Railroadersbrat, one inch hexies?! Sounds amazing! Can’t wait to see your pics.

I got the metallic thread I needed this morning and noticed it was thinner than what I had been using. Sulky, same color. Weird. But it’s sewing great so I best not complain too loud. Lol

One table topper done and I did a little more fmq on a table runner for myself. I’ve made several for others and decided I wanted one too. I will try and upload some pics soon.

Happy quilting all!

Table topper front and back. Just did some simple loops and stars. The table runner needs some of those gingerbread cookies. ;)

all very pretty!

kyquiltlover1942 12-22-2019 03:27 AM

I will be working on several lap size quilts QOV's and a few others that I am making for Hosprus. That is about al I am involved with now. I am trying hard to clear out some of my stash. Since we had our Christmas several weeks ago, I am set for the week.

Quiltah Mama 12-22-2019 04:04 AM

I am unable to get to my machine today. I've had a sleepover with two of my grands, ages 3 and almost 2, so no time for sewing. We had Christmas with them last night so they can be with their mom (my daughter) on Christmas day. They live 2 hours from us and I do the commuting to pick them up and bring them back home today. DH and I will have our son and family with our other grandson Christmas eve so they can be home Christmas morning for their tree. I've been peeking in to see what everyone is up to, lots of good work and so inspiring. Quilted Cottage, that green fabric in your two table runners is fantastic. Thank you Raggiemom for hosting, I'm looking forward to New Years Day at my machine.

jmoore 12-22-2019 04:04 AM

Kathy, both of your table toppers are splendid.
Thimblebug, I love your Quilted Hug project, it would be perfect for my 99 yr old MIL. Is there a pattern for it?
I’m also in for VQW on New Year’s Day. : )

Jordan 12-22-2019 07:44 AM

Everyone's projects look so lovely.
Zozee-your baby items are adorable.
NZquilter-your cookies look so yummy and love your Attic Window panel. Very nice gifts you have made too.
The quilted Cottage-very pretty table topper and your table runner is so beautiful. Love your green fabrics. I think you need to fill those plates with cookies for Santa.
Thank you all for sharing pictures of your beautiful work.

I'm not sure if I can post a link to it, but if you google the Quilted Hug project there is a you tube video which I have to keep referring to, plus there is a basic printout called Quilted Shawl Instructions. HTH

Friday all day off and on I worked on a 20 year old Row by Row. The blocks are all 3D and were blue on WOW. I can't tell you how many times I've taken them out these last years to look at them and just put them all away. They just didn't look right all lined up like that. I couldn't see my way through to making them into a center medallion, nothing was working for me. Fast forward, two years ago we went to Alaska and I found panel fabric from Kaufman with all the critters we'd seen on our cruise... well the water ones anyway. Somehow they just needed to be pieced together and the quilt flew to completion on Friday. I still can't believe it's done.

Went a little overboard yesterday. I couldn't sleep so I started at 2am. Needed to do a lone star as practice for a commission quilt and I needed a mug rug for the swap so I made that one up.

I had the wall hanging going for that swap and worked on it, alternating the two.
Somehow I managed to get both of the pieces quilted and bound, they are finished. Hey they may be small, but that word! Done! It's like,,, heavenly.

Between them both I was dyeing up 15 yards of fabric. It's sat over night and now needs to be rinsed, washed, ironed,,, you know the drill.

So then I pulled out the box of blocks, it's a 30 gallon tote,,, completely packed, ok so there's a bit of stuff there. LOL they are all from past swapping and collecting and I don't know what all. Found a Merry Mayhem mystery quilt that I'd put away a good 15 years ago. All the blocks are sewn and I'm a day away from a top. It's a snowball 2 ribbon quilt and I just do not like the colors. Well! Guess what I'm going to do? Yup! I'm going to throw some paint at my snowballs and they will become paint balls! Hahaa! I can't wait to get creative with it so that's where you'll find me today.

I hope ya'll are enjoying your sewing time. I might pull out my Featherweight... the modern machines leave a lot to be desired in the longevity department. Both my Phaff and my Elna, their feed dogs wont stay up which is causing no end of trouble. Once they drop it's almost impossible to get them back up. The buttons can't seem to be fixed either as they have been to several different people for repairing over the years. I hate to say it but my Phaff's been in the barn with the spiders and mice for about 2 decades now. Very said state of affairs. I must be missing it. Now with the Elna screaming (just came from the shop) and sticking again already... loosing the feed dogs was the last straw. Good ole Singer to the rescue. :p Have a fantastic day. peeps.

WendyMcD 12-22-2019 08:49 AM

This is amazing! Pumpkin seeds? I have no idea... all I know is what I like and this... it's just stunning, it's taken my words straight out of my head. But I can still say great job!!! You need to be proud of your work, keep at it. Your so close.

Iceblossom 12-22-2019 08:53 AM

Lovely stuff WendyMcD!

I got my Bonnie Hunter clue done yesterday. Normally Sunday morning I go on a bowling date with the hubby and then we go to a couple of thrift stores. I've been fighting off the cold the hubby has all week but if finally caught me yesterday.

Going to stay home today and deal with sniffles and stuffy head and slowly work on that border for the Cherry Goose top.

Here's the 2 inch squares for my OMG quilt. I recalculated and realized I only needed 1600 ( not 3200) but then these will be cut diagonally and added to the corners of 800 tiny 4 patches. This quilt will have somewhere in the vicinity of 18,000 pieces when complete.

petthefabric 12-22-2019 11:48 AM

Got a kit made last night. Went to dinner with dh. One of my fave restraunts will close in Jan as owners will visit family in Mexico. Then made another kit.
A few more kits and the LA table will get cleaned off. Then time for LA bundles top/bottom/binding.

I am not sure he will appreciate someone sleeping in his bed.

Irishrose, I hope you are recovering nicely and quickly. Take care.

Quilting vagabond I bought the pattern for OMG. I am thinking of using 30’s fabrics and really good unbleached muslin.

Macy baby I hope your move goes smoothly. You made me really think before I start OMG. I do get a bit bored with so many little pieces and repetition. I recently finished Pam Buda’s “Circa1880”. It wasn’t hard but it was intense.

I am sure I will be sewing on New Year’s Day when I am all alone again. Reggiemom thanks so much for hosting.❤️

What is an OMG Quilt, please? And where to locate the pattern? Thank you.

I was able to get all my fabric cut today for the four blocks needed for my table runner. I was also able to put one of the blocks together. So glad I was able to play at the machine today. Merry Christmas everyone.

WendyMcD—wow you were busy!

Didn’t do as much today as had planned. Spent the day with husband. But did get some planning and handwork done so not a total washout!

Please feel free to keep adding to this thread if you’re continuing to work through Christmas. Hope to see you all back here on New Years.

It's great to see what everyone is doing. And thanks for the link to the OMG quilt.

Irishgal, that is a very pretty block. Your tablerunner is going to be lovely.

QuiltingVagabond, wow! Beautiful 2" squares and stacked so neatly. My cats would see those and say, "oh heck no, those need some immediate rearranging." :D

Iceblossom, I hope you feel better real soon!

Wendy, your Row by Row looks terrific with the panel fabric. So maybe UFOs aren't so bad to have hanging around, even for a couple decades. :)

Thanks for the nice compliments on the table runner and topper. The fabric has lots of sparkles on it but they didn't show up in the pics. I finished the blue one so will post a pic and hopefully it will show better. Btw, the fabric is from Joann's.

I took a break this morning to do some cleaning and made chili and cornbread. House smells so good! I will make some cookies later for that empty cookie plate. Then I need to drop off toys at the firehouse donation. Weather is getting stormy and we're expecting snow on Christmas - yeah! We had 14" on Thanksgiving day. (I'm at a high elevation in So.Cal) Great weather to stay in and quilt. Wishing everyone safe travels and healing hugs!

Happy quilting! Di

NZquilter 12-22-2019 04:49 PM

I got my quilting done! Happy dance! I generally do bias binding on my quilts, using the continuous binding method, but this time I'm just going to do straight grain binding. I'm hoping it will be faster!

Thank you Thimblebug.

QuiltingVagabond, I can’t wait to watch the progress of you Omigosh quilt. I’ve seen some photos and they are amazing...you must have the patience of a Saint. : )

Quiltah Mama, I’m sure you are having a blessed Christmas with your grandchildren...you are lucky that they live close enough...mine are in Key West and California and the holidays just aren’t the same without little people.

All those tiny pumpkins seeds (done on a 1/2" grid) had sporadic pokies of the bobbin thread which is white. So I ripped them all out and redid them. Much happier with them now.

I am seeing light at the end of the tunnel. Not sure if I will finish this VQW but I will try. I have Monday off so the outlook is good.

Feline, what another stunning quilt! I can’t wait to see it finished, you do amazing work!

Conchalea 12-23-2019 07:44 PM

I finished all 49 blocks & added sashing on 2 sides. They are 10", unfinished. Today I trimmed them all & got them arranged in a 7 X 7 square. I'll add a border on the top & bottom to add length. I'm using stash so the border will be pretty narrow. I do not want to buy more fabric for it, except for the backing.

Irishrose2 12-23-2019 09:33 PM

Wendy McD, what model is your Elna? My 1973 62C's feed dogs are not feeding as smoothly as normal. They seem somewhat smooth - I think I've worn them out. 46 years of very heavy use might do that.

quiltingshorttimer 12-25-2019 05:29 PM

what wonderful work all of you are doing! I'm little jealous--haven't had a chance to approach either a sewing machine or the long arm in a week! Definitely have quilting withdrawals! Son's family (3 boys, 5,6, 11) here all this week and it's been very busy with hosting 3 family gathers (one left on Sat. ) Love them all and glad we are having this time together--but it has been hectic! And in all the hub-bub I forgot to give 2 lapquilts and a table topper to the recipients on Sunday (had to send with another family member who say them today) and while the kids and g-boys here last night, forgot to give the DS & DD their bed quilts, so still to give those!

Irishrose2 12-26-2019 10:14 AM

I finished my 14 pillowcases, but I didn't get any pictures - my oldest daughter came and wrapped them as fast as I could do the final pressing. Most of them came out great - there are so many children's fabrics available that I wasn't aware of. I have received pictures from most of my great grandchildren with their pillowcase. One 5 year old ran upstairs and got his pillow the minute he unwrapped the pillowcase. The big smile is so gratifying. He's in Kansas so I don't see him often enough.

I love seeing all the people but I need down time between to decompress. I'm not surprised you forgot things.
