The Fat Quarter Baby Book I ordered from Connecting Threads arrived yesterday. https://cdn.quiltingboard.com/images/smilies/smile.png I have so many baby quilt patterns saved, but I really wanted to make the whale quilt I saw in this book for my niece expecting a baby boy in June. I will look for fabric in my stash and begin to cut the pattern out.....after I put up my Christmas decorations lining the hallway to my sewing room. https://cdn.quiltingboard.com/images...s/rolleyes.png

Thank you Rob https://cdn.quiltingboard.com/images/smilies/smile.png. It's a Mary Hertel pattern - foundation piecing, which is... not my favourite. But I'm happy with the result.

I am very pleased to say that I've actually completed the DSM quilting. The quality of the quilting is variable, but it's only my second time and I'm learning, so I'll keep it. https://cdn.quiltingboard.com/images...es/biggrin.png I've actually managed to trim it down, cut the access and hole, and attached one side of the binding (by machine, I'll do the other side by hand). So that feels fabulous!!

I've now moved on to working on fabric bags (to replace - at least some - paper wrapping *next* Christmas).

Of course what I probably should be doing is, like copycat, dealing with putting away Christmas decorations. They're down and re-boxed (mainly) and just need taking upstairs to the cupboard... Probably not going to happen today https://cdn.quiltingboard.com/images/smilies/tongue.png I do love the sound of the whale quilt though. DS loves 'the Snail and the Whale' book.

Happy quilting everyone!

I've read with interest what everyone's doing. I finished piecing the top of a large scrap four-patch, comes out about 102" square. Now, I need to piece the back and get it loaded on longarm. I usually start my day with sewing a few four patches in the unending task of keeping the scrap bins under control. Happy sewing everyone.

I see every is making progress! Got the baby quilt cut out except for the body of one sloth and first block is made. The quilt is 6 big blocks and a border. We visited the newest member of our family (DGGS#2) yesterday. Everyone is doing fine and big brother (DGGS#1, 21months) thinks having a baby brother is great!

Love your tree skirt Panchita, and thanks for making the effort to get your picture to post!

Good morning,
I will be joining you this weekend. Sewing on a quilt for my daughter. It’s called Protea by Laura Heine. Lots of steam a seam and little scraps. I have one more flower to do. I’m sewing around each piece with invisible thread in a shorter and narrow stitch.
I’ll post a picture in a minute.
Gail

I can see the tree skirt just fine... so cute. I wish more people would post photos of what they are working on. It would be great to have more photos in this thread!

Well, haven't gotten quite as much done as I had hoped, I ended up getting sidetracked in my kitchen longer than I was hoping. I've been promising the fiancé a batch of peanut brittle for weeks and had to calibrate a new digital thermometer and then stand over the stove for an hour to get it cooked up. Turned out beautifully, I'm beyond thrilled because I gave up candy making for the holidays a few years back after a number of issues cropped up. I'm famous for my sea salt crusted milk caramels and I horrendously burned a batch and it separated, then didn't cook it long enough the second go-round and burned it a third time. I figured it was a sign and just gave up but now I'm back on track!

I've been working on the Bridge sampler and I have a new helper to keep me on track, why I didn't get a needle minder before now is beyond me. Hoping tomorrow I will be able to play with the rulers, I might later today but not sure what the fiancé has planned.
