Virtual Quilting Weekend -- November 10-12, 2017

Welcome to Virtual Quilting Weekend! I hope many of you are able to join me and quilt this weekend. Or clean/organize your room, shop for new projects, or just dream about new projects! I am working on various UFOs this weekend and catching up on a few BOMs. Please share pictures if you want of what you're working on.

The next VQW will be December 15-17. It will be an opportunity to finish those last minute Christmas gifts!

Can't wait to see what everyone is working on this weekend.

KalamaQuilts 11-09-2017 02:44 PM

I remember on the Dear Jane list we'd have a 3 day retreat and I'd get 7-800 emails over that period
Good fun, good memories. That would have been 1998-2000 era

Well this is very convenient! I just started pin basting my quilt from the blocks I made following along on the New Quilting Bee. I was hoping to get it quilted this weekend. Right now it is laying on my living room floor half basted:-) So that means I am in!

tscweaves- that's so beautiful!!!

cashs_mom 11-09-2017 03:02 PM

I"m hoping to take part if nothing gets in the way. I need to finish up some Christmas gifts and also the quilt top I've been not so successful in completing. :D

I'd really like to work on a pattern for a tablet holder that I bought a quilt fest but I doubt I'll get to it.

Cheesehead 11-09-2017 04:18 PM

Theresa your Bee quilt turned out just gorgeous and I love how you chose to put them on point! My blocks are sitting for now and I probably won't be able to work with them until January.

Sync 11-09-2017 04:57 PM

I'm in again. I have a few UFO's and a baby quilt that needs borders.

Macybaby 11-09-2017 05:38 PM

yea! I forgot all about this coming up. I was planning on working on my Crazy Quilt a bit more - have not worked on it since the last VQW

kristakz 11-09-2017 06:01 PM

I'm in! Tomorrow's a work day - which means I'm quilting customer quilts. Hopefully at least 2 before the end of the day. Then the weekend should be mine. A mystery to catch up on, a quilt on my design wall to finish, so I can get back to my Winding Ways quilt. And 3 Christmas quilts of my own that I'd like to quilt before the holiday ends.

This is the perfect incentive for me to get the quilting done on this project - back in September my local guild had a jelly roll challenge and I made this one. My daughter loves it because it is so neutral, definitely not my usual style!

I plan to be "in"--doing a friend a favor tomorrow morning and then working a shop hop in afternoon. But Sat. while I'm getting a new floor in my basement where LA is (yeah! finally!) I plan to bind a cancer quilt for friend, put binding on my nephew's t-shirt quilt, but I really need to be on the LA--two quilts of my sister's to do (both with lots of quilting), 3 tv snuggle fleece/panel little quilts for g-boys, and a quilted vest for DS--all before Christmas. oh, and 2 more placemats for sister's Christmas and ???

I’m in. I need to get the October columns put on my temperature quilt, square up and bind a UFO, finish the painting on a whole cloth quilt top so I can reclaim my large work table, and make some Christmas presents.

I’m in. I plan to sew binding on 2 quilts I got back from long armer last week. Then finish 2 quillows, just need to quilt and put pouch on quilt. Next work on temp quilt, at least get 3-4 month’s sewn together. Followed by working on various blocks for other projects and lastly work on quilting bee swap blocks (cant’t post pic until after the swap). This should be enough to keep me entertained.
I will post pics as I finish projects. Happy sewing/quilting everyone. My sewing starts tomorrow early.

petthefabric 11-09-2017 10:22 PM

Quilting Vagabond, lovely quilt.

I'm in. Since I have a meeting tomorrow morning, think I'll start tonight by finishing what I started last night.

tallchick 11-10-2017 03:33 AM

I’m in, I want to get another quilt bound, and another one at least partially quilted, that would leave me with just 3 more tops to go. Thanks for hosting another weekend, I can’t wait to see what everyone is working on.

i love this jelly roll variation!

QuiltnNan 11-10-2017 03:56 AM

i'll be working on assembling a charity quilt top and practice some FMQ

Belfrybat 11-10-2017 04:02 AM

I'm in -- I missed the last two but remembered to put this one on my calendar. I started last night on a Triangle Frenzy table runner. Cut out two so will sew and layer them today. I also need to make a couple of throw quilts suitable for men. I have some 8" 4 patches left over from a project several years ago so think I'll snowball some neutral squares and alternate them. I might get enough for 2 quilts, but for sure one. Then there's the summer swap blocks from last year that I need to assemble and finish. Yikes! Lots of projects.

Kp3690 11-10-2017 04:44 AM

I’m in! I have to finish up a quilt for my great nephew, some Christmas gifts, the list goes on and on. :D

maminstl 11-10-2017 04:44 AM

I just finished up a quilt this week - so my weekend will be spent helping a friend with some home dec projects and hopefully getting a few hooded sweatshirts done for my nieces. Have one cut out and the next on the table.

Perfect timing! I'm hoping to finish my quilt top with the blocks from our Fall Themed block swap we had this summer. I made several extra blocks this week and have the lay out planned. In the photo I have not ironed it yet or sewn the blocks together. The border print is being auditioned.

My DH and I are also planning on rewiring and servicing a Singer 201-2 tomorrow, so does that count towards the VQW ?:)

ka9sdn 11-10-2017 05:31 AM

Saturday I will be drawing 2 embroidery patterns that will go in a quilt--taking them with me to Cancun for when I want to get out of the sun. What good timing!

ka9sdn 11-10-2017 05:35 AM

Your blocks are great. I guess I am not adventurous but I would have a solid color border and quilt fall items in it! Enjoy your weekend!

sewbizgirl 11-10-2017 06:12 AM

Yay... another VQW!

Your Fall layout looks good, NZ. I like the print border.

I have more projects than weekend... trying to get my ornament for the swap done and then back to quilts. Will show as I go...

Please don't tell the quilt police, but because I am so behind in my reading, I am going to read this weekend. Back to the UFOs Monday.

Count me in! I love seeing all of the other projects that people are working on. I have to go to "Big Town" today, but I'll catch up with you tomorrow.

I'm in! I need to finish a doorway puppet show thingy for my grandchildren and then cutting out some flannel quilts.

I'm in! I am not sure which project I will work on first but I will post pictures eventually.

I really like that, too. Name?

Macybaby 11-10-2017 10:22 AM

I'm currently working on a Ribbon Quilt (kit from Craftsy) as something to do while waiting for the BH MQ to start.

http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c3...psmkuabxyq.jpg

I looked over the directions and discovered this one used covered corners extensively (like for about 1,000 triangles) and I dislike that method. So I got out the EZ Angle and Companion Angle rulers, and they got put to good use.

http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c3...psfaqwwdro.jpg

I've got the center and first few rounds done, these go together quit fast. The last quilt top I did was a Snake River Log cabin (King) and that seemed to take forever! I think I had just started it at the last VQW

Macybaby 11-10-2017 10:25 AM

Oh - I forget to share these! They came in the mail today, and will be adding sparkle to my boring white sewing machines! I got black and Pink because they were really cheap - in case I didn't like them. There were other colors, but for 3x what these cost. Guess black and pink aren't as popular and gold, red and blue.

I have to get this fun baby quilt quilted & done this weekend so I can give it to the new baby & Mama (my niece) when I see them Thanksgiving week. The biggest delay was having my machine in the shop for the past week+. But 'my beloved' (the sewing machine) is back home now & I'm excited to start a marathon quilting weekend.
Wahoo!!

That ribbon quilt is going to be pretty Macybaby.

I managed to get 5 fleece caps done today. They will be Christmas presents for Barn friends. And, they count as UFOs too, since I have had the fabric and pattern and pieces cut out for 2 years....Yay!!! Next I think I'll work on getting the painted part done on the whole cloth so I can do some thread painting on it. That will free up my worktable so I can square up the quilt UFO and get it bound. Oh, here's a pic of the fleece caps:

Trisher 11-10-2017 02:53 PM

I am in! I want to make a Christmas bed runner. I found a package of charm squares in my stash this afternoon. 'Adoring' by Sandy Gervais for moda.

Anybody have a pattern for a lil twister runner? (table top or bed runner)
