Wish I was going back to OR again this year. My husband is from there, and we went a few years ago.

A fat quarter exchange sounds fun!
Thanks, Sewcornie for being our hostess!

Two Doods: So happy to hear you are going to be there. Don't know if you remember but about 2 years ago you and I PM'd about maybe meeting for coffee sometime when I was in the area but it never happened. I look forward to meeting you.

OMG
Has it really been 2 years?

How un-social of me!
I am looking forward to meeting "the locals", FINALLY!

I'm so excited this is coming up soon! Dunster may try to come too. That would bring us up to six.

Dear Wine Woman and Sew Cornie, Thank you so very much for the invitation to meet some OR/WA quilters. Unfortunately, due to health reasons, I cannot attend. But, I hope you all have lots of fun and take away some treasured memories to add to your life's special moments. Thank you for including me, even though I'm an Iowa transplant. . . I've lived in Oregon a lot longer than I lived in Iowa! Have fun and please take pictures to share with all of us of this very special gathering. Hugs. . .Teri in Klamath Falls, Oregon

Hi Beachy, I've sent you a PM.

Debbie1 02-02-2010 08:48 PM

Thanks so much for the invite, but I can't make it. Just too much going on with work, kids, grandkids, etc. I hope everyone has loads of fun - in fact have some for me!

Debbie54 02-02-2010 11:11 PM

Who from powers?

yourstrulyquilts 02-02-2010 11:12 PM

No one I don't think, unless you are going.

Debbie54 02-02-2010 11:13 PM

You are from powers?

yourstrulyquilts 02-02-2010 11:15 PM

Yes. born and raised there. I know a lot of people who used to live there, and some who still do.

Debbie54 02-02-2010 11:19 PM

How long ago?

yourstrulyquilts 02-02-2010 11:24 PM

I graduated in 1960. If you go to the high school you will see my picture; the only Diana there in 1960. Also, Loene, Jamie, Donna, Bill, Dennis, Jerry, Betty Jo. We started school together in 1st grade-except for Bill Hunt, he came in 4th grade. They all graduated in 1959. I quit school, had a baby and then went back to get my diploma. Unheard of in those days.

Debbie54 02-02-2010 11:29 PM

Good for you. Our high school graduations now have one or more parents in them. One year we had a 100% pregnant female graduation. I have been here since 91. :-P

yourstrulyquilts 02-02-2010 11:33 PM

Here in Dallas there is even a nursery staffed by volunteers to care for the babies while mom gets her education. How times have changed!!

Towerhouse Quilter 02-03-2010 07:39 AM

I received a PM (thank you!) about your get-together. I'm busy on the 7th, but would love to hear about who came and how it went. I haven't been very active on the boards because I've been working on getting my longarm business going. But at some point I hope to have more time to reach out to other quilters, take classes, and get out more often! Have fun and happy quilting!

sew cornie 02-03-2010 01:22 PM

Thank you WineWoman for helping to get the word out!! :-D

Confirmed:
Sparky, 2 Doods, WineWoman (and her MIL), Feathers, KarenBarnes, sew cornie

Maybe:
Dunster, beachy

Still room for more! If you're just now checking us out, it's not too late! PM me if you'd like to come so I can give you my address.

yourstrulyquilts 02-03-2010 02:50 PM

ORSunshineQuilter 02-04-2010 01:02 PM

Wish I could make it but I can't. Have previous plans. Maybe next time?!

gailw 02-04-2010 06:02 PM

I would love to meet my close quilting neighbors but I already have plans for the 7th so can't make this one. Please let me know if another one comes up and I will try to make it. It is about 3-4 hour drive from Roseburg.

sew cornie 02-04-2010 06:30 PM

We'll miss you guys but hopefully we can set up another get together in the future.

SewCornie: Thank YOU for hostessing the open house. What a great time and what a great bunch of fellow quilters. Isn't it interesting that all of us were strangers but our conversations, knowledge sharing and time together was so relaxed and easy like we'd known each other all our lives. Great open house and such a nice opportunity to meet all of you. Thanks for the opportunity and "Sparky" I look forward to our next get-together at your house. We can do it at my house later this summer sometime. Thanks everyone!

tlrnhi 02-08-2010 04:51 AM

Dunster, your quilting knocked my socks off. I loved your Hawaiian applique quilt & wall hangings and the quilting you did on the light blue and white garage sale quilt is gorgeous. Thanks for sharing.

So glad you were able to come. I loved meeting all of you and getting to know each of you a tiny bit. Can't wait for Sparky's get-together later this spring and I'll do one this summer.

Oh! Ladies what a great time! Looking forward to the next one. Hope we can get more to join us! Sew Cornie - you out did yourself as hostess. You are going to be a hard act to follow.
Beatiful projects shared by wonderful ladies! Thanks everyone!

Sparky 02-08-2010 04:00 PM

Thanks so much for the wonderful open house. It was so nice to meet so many new "quilting friends". I found out that I could spend even more time reading this board or doing swap blocks or round robin. I'm hoping that we can meet next time, possibly third or fourth weekend of March at my house in Salem. I haven't a firm date in mind yet, need to consult a calendar, but thought we could keep with the Sunday afternoon time slot. I'm open to suggestions at this time.

yourstrulyquilts 02-08-2010 04:03 PM

Sparky, I would love to come!!!
