Wow! This Hoosier is suddenly feeling the need to drive north!!
of course that means saving for gas and fabric!! :XD:

Love your fabric finds. We have lost the fabric section in our Walmarts here in Dallas. SIGH!!! I grew up in Indiana and wondered if you have ever heard of a church camp near there at a place called Yellow Creek?

GamaKathy 02-13-2011 12:01 PM

There is a quilt store in Winamac too but they don't have a lot of prints that I like (I'm mostly into bright colors). I read about a shop in Rochester but I've never looked into it. I haven't been to the one in Kokomo yet but I have been to Rossville (great shop) and the other ones in Wabash, plus North Manchester and two in Lafayette.

You'll have to go to the one stop quilt shop hop at the events center in Kokomo this summer. The info is here:

Gale, I have been wanting to do this and these are near by places! Do you sign-up ahead of time or just show up on the right day?

OUR WM WAS GETTING RID OF THERE FABRIC DEPT ALSO. IT WAS $1.00 A YARD. I GOT $100.00 DOLLARS WORTH. I ALREADY HAVE AN AREA OF 18FEET LONG 4 FEET DEEP AND 10 FEET TALL FULL OF FABRIC. ALSO IN BOXES AND STACKED ALL OVER. I THINK I AM SICK, SICK, SICK. I AM 74 AND CAN NEVER USE IT ALL.

I want that blue with the flowers!! Am actively sorting through my HUGE stash[collected over 35 years] and think I would like to do a fat quarter swap if you or any one else is interested. Love your fabric choices. Our Wally World has a small fabric dept. now but never any sales.

pretty fabrics !!

My Dear Kindred Spirit! May I highly recommend an "exit" plan? After losing two friends of many years and seeing the hassle it is for "non-quilters" to find the right place for all our treasures I started to sort and assign, share and trade.

Latrinka 02-13-2011 04:38 PM

all very pretty!

jojosnana 02-13-2011 05:20 PM

Have fun with your new stash.

hspirit_99 02-13-2011 06:23 PM

love your fabric. so pretty

Blinky 02-13-2011 06:29 PM

What great fabric! I think Joann's has gotten pretty high on their fabric! I don't buy unless it is a bargain. You can go to quit shops and buy quality fabric for what Joann's has their not so great fabric marked as.

kacy 49 02-13-2011 07:21 PM

You did good. Love your fabrics.

The one-stop shop hop last year was one where you just show up-no registration necessary. It cost $5 to get in ($2 for kids, I think). I'm not sure about the other events but if you email the owner of Nancy J's she should be able to tell you.

katigirl 02-14-2011 12:43 AM

yeah for you :)

violets4me123 02-14-2011 08:28 AM

Nice stash!! The walmart close by took out the fabric section and no more fabric from there. But we do have one Walmart on the other side of town, that is keeping the fabric section!!!!

cheryl rearick 02-14-2011 01:34 PM

beautiful material, glad you get to keep your wally world fabrics. None in my area. The I have to drive 40 miles to a JoAnn's for anything. grrrrr. Happy for you though :)

JUNEC 02-14-2011 06:44 PM

Our fabric department has been expanded. Adding more fabric. We have lots of quilters in this area of the country and many of the ladies drive here to buy fabric. (

jdavis 02-25-2011 02:47 PM

You got some nice ones! Congratulations!

booklady 02-25-2011 03:01 PM

Sure wish our Wal-Mart would bring back the fabric. . . :(

newquilter2 05-20-2011 05:42 PM

there is also a quilt store in monticello its called the krazy lady quilt store

Victoria L 05-20-2011 06:18 PM

Nice find. Love your choices. Our Wal-mart doesn't have fabric :(

Taffkat 05-20-2011 06:52 PM

We have a "mother ship" (as I loving-ly call Wal-Mart) in Elizabethton TN. The fabric dept manager ordered 1500 bolts to arrive in August and 1500 bolts to arrive in September! They are remodeling and actually ENLARGING her department!!! Yeah!

She's got the best Walmart fabric selection around. They bring them by the bus load -- Quilting Guilds from as far away as 2 hours. Gotta love it!

craftybear 05-20-2011 06:54 PM

Yes, I love going to the Walmart in Wabash

also Kokomo, IN has fabrics and Warsaw, IN
