My Pfaff has a built in even feed (walking foot). I use it almost constantly and love that the layers of fabric feed evenly from top and bottom.

The walking foot, or integrated dual feed (IDT), is built in on my Pfaff. With few exceptions (it doesn't work with some feet) I use it every time I sew two pieces of fabric together. Just finished toddler dresses and used the IDT for everything except the zippers.

Bernina's accessories are expensive. I have a 210 and my walking foot cost about $150. It was worth it though.

I had a Pfaff with the IDT. When I decided I needed, really needed a new machine I bought the Janome 6600 bc it also has the IDT. I use it for almost everything. Who gave the tip about using is for hemming jeans? Thanks I'll be sure to try that as hemming jeans are a pain in the ..................

I use the walking foot on anything that has multiple layers. It works especially well with seams for the 8 pointed star.

I have a Bernina Activa 135 sewing machine that I love, it seems to me that their walking feet are over $100.00 and I am just not willing to invest that much without knowing if it will help.

I paid $80 for my walking foot for my Janome. But was determined to get one and I love it! It's probably the only reason I would buy another Janome...I already have the walking foot for it. And I probably shouldn't say that. It's the dealer I wouldn't buy from again. If I had to do it over, I'd probably go with Babylok as the dealer is 8 miles from me. But it's at a LQS and they just sell them.

I bought a generic walking foot (I have two short shank machines so it's interchangeable). Cost me AUD 29.00 including postage and I wouldn't be without it. Binding is a breeze and even the trickiest fabric goes through nicely. Definitely one of my most worthwhile purchases.

I think of my Brother walking foot as a dog's set of teeth pulling the fabric. Arf. Arf. Chomp. Chomp.
OK, I have way too much fun sewing. |
