Why does my walking foot JUMP sometimes when I am sewing?

Kat Sews 06-02-2011 05:34 PM

what do you mean by "jump"? Is it loose and the whole thing bounces?

DebQuilter50 06-02-2011 05:38 PM

I am just sewing along, and all of a sudden it clicks, thumps, jumps. I can't figure out why. It isn't loose.

The only time mine acted like that, about 2 years ago, I took it off and found a stray thread caught in it. Cleaned it and it has been fine ever since.

I need to know the answer to this one too. My walking foot on my Singer 201 was doing that today and I broke 3 needles in a row and then took it off and quilted without it.

My needle didn't break - that's one good thing.

Do you have the bar in the right place? It either needs to be on top of or around the needle screw.
