You may want to ask some questions before buying even from the Brother dealer. I bought mine from a Brother dealer, and it doesn't work, so it may not be the Brother brand.

I have a Singer and when mine does that it is because there is drag on the quilt so it can't feed through. I can't have any weight dragging on the quilt.

Just in case Barb44 is right, you might try supporting the weight of your quilt with an ironing board perpendicular to the left of your machine. This worked wonders for me, and gravity doesn't always win anymore when I am quilting. I just move my ironing board back to where it belongs when I am through quilting.

Sorry, I've used several machines and walking feet and have never had a problem.

I know there is no drag cause it happenes with a 12x12 sandwich of muslim on both sides of batting. I'm really thinking I'd better try a Brother walking foot.

i never recmmmend the universal walking foot......all are not equal. Spend a bit more and get the one made specifically for your machine. Have had too much truble in classes with the "one size fits all" walking feet.
I don't recommend it unless machine is too old for one to have been made for it.

I paid $50 for this one. How much should I expect to pay.

Hmmmm...that sounds like it should have cost enough. I can't recall what I paid for mine, but it was not that much.
