wanted; traveling machine

For traveling to classes and in RV I'd like to get a dedicated machine that is
Less than 15 lbs
Small deminsions
Dependeble
Makes a good straight stitch
Not Featherweight
Mechanical
Pressor foot down
Needle up/down

Also would like;
knee lift
thread cutter
pressure foot tension adjustment
blanket stitch

What do you know about Bernette 35?

Any other suggestions?

I've looked at (on line and in store). Maybe these have a model I've missed.
Bernina,

I have heard that the Eversewn machines are very good. But I have no personal experience with any of them.

Are you talking new or used?

I have heard that the Janome Gem is a good machine for taking classes. I don't know anyone that has this machine but just heard it is a good little machine. Good luck on your search

You might want to search the board for "class machine" or some version of that text. There have been quite a few previous discussions that would serve you well in your search :-) !

I have had my Janome Jem for over 10 years and it is my traveling machine. Love it!

I had many of the same features on my wish list for a travelling machine. I don't think you can get needle down etc on a strictly mechanical machine,I think it needs the electronics to do that function. Also, the knee lift is typically only found on the larger (and heavier) machines.
I ended up buying a Janome M200 which is now branded Mod 200. It weighs 12 pounds and does all the other things you listed. There are a couple other models that may have fewer features. And it didn't cost anywhere near what the website shows, bought at the local dealer.

All the features you want are on the Eversewn 30, at $350- $425 comes with extension table and quilting foot package. The Eversewn models under 30 do not have the thread cutter but they are mechanical. I have a Janome Jem and it does not have thread cutter but a very good small machine.

I bought a Singer at a garage sale for the kids. The machine sews just as good as some of my other machines. $ 20.00

Check out the HQ 210 or you can save a lot of money and go with a Brother cs6000i. A lot of quilters use theBrother as their travel machine. No knee lift on either machine, but as was stated before, I don’t think you will find a knee lift on a light weight machine.

Don't forget Pfaff. Check out the Passport series. I know they are relatively feature-rich but I'm not sure exactly what they offer.
