Justquilting 03-19-2010 11:57 AM

I just priced a roll of W&N 40 yds x 90"
With shipping from Jo-anns.com
is $207.31

Should I order now of hold out & chance a better price later?

Lady Tapioca 03-19-2010 12:08 PM

Do you have a coupon?

Justquilting 03-19-2010 12:10 PM

That's with a 40% off coupon

butterflywing 03-19-2010 12:23 PM

are you near a joanns? within driving distance?

Justquilting 03-19-2010 12:47 PM

I have a jo-anns near me but their starting price is $440.00
Even with a 50% off coupon it's still $220 + tax

Oklahoma Suzie 03-19-2010 12:53 PM

That's about what I have paid from them, it is a good price.

Jim's Gem 03-19-2010 12:54 PM

I think it sounds like a good price. Does that include shipping?

I don't think you will find a better price.

jljack 03-19-2010 12:55 PM

That's a great price!! Buy it! Even at the local store with a 50% coupon, we paid about $225 for a 40 yd roll 90" wide. Great deal!!!

Justquilting 03-19-2010 12:56 PM

It includes shipping.
I think I'll go & order it.
My luck the price will go up instead of down.

Last time I got free shipping but it was 50% off.
So it came out to be the same.

Justquilting 03-19-2010 12:56 PM

And I don't have to drag it through the parking lot.

Thanks everyone for your help!

butterflywing 03-19-2010 01:00 PM

in MY opinion only , joanns WITH A COUPON is a good buy. if that includes shipping and that's the width you want, then i would say go for it. if you can wait a long time then you may want to, but a better sale may not come along for a while. ut it has been my experience that joanns with a coupon is a pretty good deal. as much as it pains me to admit that.

Justquilting 03-19-2010 01:02 PM

:D
I'm ordering now!

Mousie 03-19-2010 01:08 PM

hmmm, 40 yards = 120 feet, divided by 8 feet...
that's 14 quilts that would fit my bed, or a whole bunch of laps, etc.
But, do I like it better than poly/cotton?
Do they have big rolls of the poly cotton like that?
I've never used warm and natural and know some ppl love it, but I like the poofy look, instead of the wrinkled look.
Help me out, before I lose my nerve. I have a hot coupon and need the batting
and after this, I shall be set for a LONG time.
Just have to get my butt in gear

Justquilting 03-19-2010 01:10 PM

I've never used poly cotton.
I may have to do some checking on that.
You like it better than W&N??

They do have a warm blend???
it's sold by a 4o yd roll.
Don't know if that's what your looking for.

Fiber Artist 03-19-2010 02:12 PM

You will like the warm and natural Miss Mousie--I use it a lot - in everything - even my bags and totes

K....when I log into their .com, it has 50% off...what's the free ship code? Can you use both?

athenagwis 03-19-2010 03:05 PM

The $220 price is only 30% off, if you if you use the coupon code TEF93A instead you can get it for $157, it may work even though it is on sale or wait till the sale is over .... (It's only an additional $17 to ship to me)

You can only use one code, but the 50% off one will save you the most.

Boston1954 03-19-2010 03:22 PM

Go for it!! That is a TERRIFIC price. My sis and I just went in on a bolt and it came to about $5.24 a yard. This looks like an incredible deal.

Justquilting 03-19-2010 04:52 PM

Thank you so much Athenagwis!!
I just ordered a bolt, delivered to my door for $183.

Thank you for the 50% off code

that's just it, I don't know.
I've never used warm and natural, but think I have read that it give quilts the wrinkled old fashioned look.
i like for my tops to look sort of smooth.
I prewash all my quilt fabrics, and i don't wash after it's finished, before gifting.
Tell me your experience with the W&N, please.

W&N does wrinkle up just a bit after it's washed, but some people also wash their batting in addition to pre-washing their fabric. I think if you prewashed W&N and your fabrics and didn't wash the finished quilt before gifting it would be nice and flat as well. I love using W&N as it is so warm and easy to sew through.

Your welcome! :) I spent all my spending allowance on a new sewing machine so sadly it'll be a while before I can get more W&N, but that is a great price!! I hope they are still having the coupon when I am ready to buy!! :)

Warm and Natural is my favorite. I only use the puffy stuff if it is a tied quilt. W & N makes a wonderful, warm and lightweight quilt that goes in the washing machine. Looks great with hand quilting. Not sure about machine quilting.

I bought a roll of W & N at our local thrift store for $20.00. I don't think the person pricing things knew what it was, but I snatched right up. I was stunned in January when I had to purchase batting for the first time in many years.

Last time I went to the thrift store, they had 5 queen size batts by Heirloom for $2.00 each. They are now at my house!

Our quilting groups just ordered Warm and Natural in a huge roll and got it for four something a yard and no shipping. I will put an email on to the gal that ordered it and see if I can get the details for you.

Rebecca VLQ 03-20-2010 06:27 AM

Gah....someone remind me to buy this before the 3rd. I'm looking at my roll I bought, and I'd say I can get 2-3 more quilts off of it...but then what? Just do tops for the rest of the year until it goes on sale again? I think last time I got a roll was when they did this sale...

Gah. Getting giddy just thinking about a giant roll of batting on my front step. It's a sickness, I tell you. A sickness!

Justquilting 03-20-2010 07:42 AM

I still had half a roll left..but what the hay.
It's not like it goes to waste.
Got a gift card for x-mas...what better way to use it.
$183 w/shipping is the cheapest I've ever bought it.

Thanks again

penski 03-20-2010 10:41 AM

that sounds about right when i was in there not to long ago i asked the price of a roll trying to figure out if i wanted to keep coming back and buying what i need or just by the roll and be done with it because i have never seen it more that 5o% off before so im thinking that is a good price

Zephyr 03-20-2010 11:38 AM

I was able to get the site that we got our huge roll of Warm and Natural from. I think we paid in the neighborhood of $175 and NO shipping.

http://www.scrap-masters.com/warm-na...-p.225413.html Anything over $75 is NO shipping. Hopefully someone can get a good deal by looking into this site. We paid $4 something a yard and I think she said it had gone up slightly since we ordered.

Yeah, that's about $15 more than what I will pay including shipping w/joannes for this sale....

Rose Lee 03-20-2010 05:34 PM

I order that but I wait til it's on sale or when they send me a email coupon.

saw on www.heartbeatquilting that warm and natural 90 by 40 yrd is $172 AND 124 BY 30YRD IS $177.60

tlrnhi 03-21-2010 01:51 AM

I always order online from Joann's for the batting. I'll usually wait until I can get it for 1/2 price, plus since I order so much during the year from them, I also get free shipping.
But, even with 40% off, you still got a great deal.
