Bought a roll before price increase hit on batting, plus I do use 40% coupons. I use to work for Hancock Fabrics until last January when I left and when they marked down they marked down the discontinued prepackaged batting I purchased it. Can't beat 2.00 for queen size batts, cotton and wool both!

Caswews 02-09-2012 07:29 AM

Coupon @ Jo-Ann's or if its on sale also !

BSKTLOFR-QUILTER 02-09-2012 07:32 AM

Hobby Lobby has it for $12.99 I believe, and I used their 40% off coupon.

time2quilt 02-09-2012 08:10 AM

Hobby Lobby usually has a 40% off coupon in the Sunday paper and I'd use that.

CharlottsQuilts 02-09-2012 08:10 AM

I never thought of going to Joannes for batting, usually when I go they have the polyester thick bat. I think I'll look again, they do have frequent sales, and coupons too.

A couple of weeks ago I bought Warm & White yardage at my local Hobby Lobby at $12.99/yard, but used my 40% off coupon so the cost turned out to be $7.79/yard. Unfortunately, I didn't price the Warm & Natural that day, but it's often a little bit cheaper than Warm & White.

Yep! I get it at JoAnn's on sale. I do mostly kids charity quilts so I catch the queen size on sale (I can get 3 to 4 kids quilts out of the queen size). Last time I got it for $14.99 less 20% off transaction coupon. The queen size is 90 inches by 3 yards so I ended up paying $11.99 for 3 yards (or $4 a yard)!! I bought enough to last me a while at that price!! Watch and take advantage of those sales combined with transaction coupons - can't beat them!!

Joann's with a 50% off coupon.

newbee3 02-09-2012 08:50 AM

I usually buy it when it's on sale like 40% off at the fabric chains like joannes & hancocks

I do the same. It's rediculous how prices of everything just keeps going up while the paychecks stay the same but as long as we continue paying the price it will continue as it is.

frarose 02-09-2012 09:53 AM

I haven't bought any in a while but my last roll cost $199. I haven't opened it yet.

GrammaBabs 02-09-2012 10:13 AM

all i can say is that it's getting very difficult to "just enjoy the hobby"... i'm am fortunate, that price is not a huge issue, but we didn't get to this point by wasting our money, so it's a habit for us to "shop and get the best deal".. the internet is a great way.. i do not have a business, so i don't need huge amounts,, but i do like to have a stock of things i want... Connecting Threads 80/20 (previously mentioned).. seemed a very good deal to me i bought i think either king or queen size. 4 rolls... free delivery to my door for well under 50 dollars... didn't have to "drive" or get dressed up to shop... LOL... i'm a happy camper... just wanted to share my story..:)

I bought a 40 yard roll when Joann had a 50% off coupon, online. With tax and shipping, it was $6.25 a yard.

caspharm 02-09-2012 12:09 PM

Agree. I shop around for the sales.

Same here.

That's where I keep mine as well. I only by it on sale.

retteacher 02-09-2012 06:24 PM

Only when it is 50% off at Joann's or Hancock's

T-Anne 02-09-2012 06:37 PM

Me too, I buy it at JoAnns when it is on sale/coupon.

nstitches4u 02-09-2012 08:06 PM

The price of cotton has gone up considerably. Our hobbie just keeps getting more expensive.

CajunQuilter2 02-09-2012 08:18 PM

I use either a coupon from JoAnns or when they put it on sale 50% off and then I buy atleast 10 yards

SewOK 02-09-2012 08:52 PM

For Oklahoma Residents: There is a shop in Oklahoma City (Truman's) at I-44 and South Portland that sells batting by the roll. The local Quilt Guild here in Midwest City purchased two rolls of Hobbs 80/20 for less than $200.00. He also sells to individuals. The next time I need batting, that's where I intend to go.

Maralyn 02-10-2012 05:28 PM

I only buy when I have a coupon from Hobby Lobby.

bunniequilter 02-10-2012 06:12 PM
