Warm and Natural Batting Prices

I used to buy Warm and Natural batting at Walmart for under $7 per yard, which was about 90" wide. I went in the other day to purchase more and they didn't have any in stock. The person in charge of ordering told me the price went up to $15 per yard and they weren't carrying it any longer. Where do you all purchase your batting and are there any decent prices to be found?

Dawn Hendrix 02-07-2012 10:08 AM

ONLY with a coupon from Joanns or Hancocks...

NJ Quilter 02-07-2012 10:18 AM

Same here - with at least a 40% off coupon at Joanns and by the roll. Stands up nicely in the corner of my room behind the door.

Lori S 02-07-2012 10:27 AM

I bought a whole roll on Black Friday , they had 50 percent off plus and additional 20 percent. it was reason enough to get out of bed, and get there early!

sew.annie 02-07-2012 11:44 AM

Hobby Lobby has Warm and Natural on sale this week...I believe it's 8.99. 90" wide. Hope this helps.

beaniekins 02-07-2012 11:48 AM

$15 would be a steal up here in Canada. Our local fabric chain store sells it for $35 a metre. I bought a bolt of it with a coupon at Joann's the last time I was in the States a few months ago, and it almost seemed like they were giving it away for free.

cassiemae 02-07-2012 01:30 PM

I agree I only buy it at Joann's with a coupon I am hoping to go in next week and get some. I can remember when it was $5.99 a yard. Boy would that be nice.

ewecansew 02-07-2012 01:39 PM

Beaniekins---check at the LQS. the suggested retail is around $20/meter. The chain store marks it up, so when they have a sale it is what the price should be. Same with their notions. Ruler at chain store--over $30, local quilt store--under $20--everyday. DMC floss--chain store--$1.25, local quilt store--$.75 everyday(suggested retail is $.89). Just because they are a chain, they are not always the best deal in town.

pinkberrykay 02-07-2012 01:41 PM

Its on sale at Joanns for $6.99 a yard this week.

ckcowl 02-07-2012 01:56 PM

i 'browse' the on-line shops and take advantage of sales-by stocking up.

That's why I never set my foot in any fabric chain store here. Probably the only one left?
I buy all my fabric and batting online. Just can't afford to buy them here (unfortunately).

dunster 02-07-2012 01:58 PM

JoAnns has the 90" roll (40 yards) for 429.99. The 45" roll (also 40 yards) is 159.99. That means you could get 2 45" rolls for 319.98. That's about $110 cheaper than buying the 90" roll, and you get just as much batting. Admittedly you have to piece it together if you need something between 45" and 90", but I almost always wind up piecing the batting somewhere anyway. I just don't understand the price discrepancy. Per square inch, the 90" roll is about 35% more expensive!

gingerd 02-07-2012 02:19 PM

Someone posted during late December/early January that the batting was going to be going up $1 a yard in early February. I don't recall the exact date, but it was early, maybe 2/2 or 2/3.

sandybeach 02-07-2012 02:47 PM

Try here:
http://www.batt-mart.com/site/490194/page/93839

If you go to item #42, it is warm and natural, 90" x 30 yards for $234.66 = $7.82/yd.

jaciqltznok 02-07-2012 02:50 PM

Hobby Lobby, with a coupon!

HOWEVER, be aware of the shipping....The Warm Co. ONLY does drop ship now! My friend wanted to order a roll and the shipping quoted to her was $210.00 as it is considered OVER sized now by ALL carriers!

Thanks for the tip. I do normally shop at the smaller independent stores in town, but their batting is definitely more than $20 a metre. I always shop around to get the best deals.

Not true of all suppliers and carriers. Batt-Mart has free shipping on Warm and Natural. And all carriers do not consider it oversized.

We pay this or even more here

Dyan 02-07-2012 05:13 PM

I bought a roll at JoAnn.com cyber monday and got it for $199.00 with free shipping, glad I purchased it. At my local JoAnn's today she told me the price is going to $14.99 per yard.

If you use the 40% coupon at JoAnn's you get 90" x 40 yards for $258, and that's the equivalent of $193.50 for 30 yards, so JoAnn's is a better buy (and JoAnn's frequently has free shipping). But the 45" at JoAnn's is an even better buy per square inch of batting.

mighty 02-07-2012 05:43 PM

I also buy mine at Joanns with coupon.

Kitsie 02-08-2012 01:29 PM

Or Fabric Depot..

Connecting Threads has their batting on sale for 30% off until the 20th of February.

maryellis 02-09-2012 04:25 AM

Joanns when on sale for 50% of comes to around 6.00 per yard. 90 inches wide. The next time I will order a whole roll 40 yards at around 250.00 When on sale.

I bought Warm and Natural yesterday at Hancock - 30% off which brought it down to nine something (It was $11.99 a yard) and then I had a 20% off JoAnn's coupon, which they took. I bought enough for two coverlets (52x80) and two double bed size and spent a lot less than I thought I would. At least I got enough fabric for four quilt, that'll keep me busy for a while. I also got some bobbins. Bobbins are a necessity, I think. I just take my handy dandy Sidewinder and take 1/2 off and whip up a bunch of bobbins (pin them down with painter's tape), put them in a large prescription bottle (the brown ones) and I am set! Just a few tips from the old lady!!!!! Screwed up royal yesterday, however, when my friend and I went to a hotsy totsy quilt shop. I commented on what a beautiful table cloth that was on a table with books and stuff on it. Found out that it was a quilt that hadn't been finished. Oops! Edie

I remember that! Edie

JNCT14 02-09-2012 04:50 AM

I noticed that the prices went sky high over the last couple of years. Our JoAnn's in CT is up to $14.00/yd. I only buy it when I have a coupon and then I buy a LOT....

LindaMRB 02-09-2012 05:11 AM

I guess I was lucky then!
I paid $8.99/yard just a couple days ago...
I should have bought more?

hoppa 02-09-2012 05:49 AM

I buy at hancocks when on sale then with the additional holiday coupon then buy the roll .

Ditto to Dawn...
I only buy my "Warm and Natural" batting from JoAnn's... I use a 40 or 50% off coupon and buy about 10 yds at a time. It's a chunk of change at the time I do it...but it lasts me a long time...and it's the only way it's affordable.

If you buy several yds at once their discount applies to the whole UNCUT length of battting. I did purchase wool batting once but that had to come from a quilting store.
.

Tartan 02-09-2012 05:54 AM

When anyone in my family is going to the US, I have them pick me up Hobbs 80/20 fusible. I used to get it at my Michael's with my 50% coupon but they stopped carrying it. Bummer!

Elaine433 02-09-2012 05:55 AM

I buy it at JoAnn's when they have a 50% off coupon. If I went yesterday I could have had an even better deal. They had it on sale for $6.99 a yard plus another 20% off with a senior discount. I just couldn't make it. Hopefully they will have it again like that but if they don't, the $6.99 a yard is still ok. I usually buy 2-4 yards at a time.

pasolovers 02-09-2012 06:12 AM

Joannes on sale is the only time I buy it:thumbup:

luvTooQuilt 02-09-2012 06:23 AM

I get W & N 90x 40yards roll from Joannes with a 50% off coupon only.... ship to store (no shipping fees) or to my home if they offer to mail it to me free of charge..

Right now Joannes has it on sale for 40% off.. Reg: 429.99 sale : 257.99

euclid 02-09-2012 06:25 AM

Just bought Warm and Natural on sale at JoAnn's yesterday for $6.99 a yard. On sale until the 11th. If you have the JoAnn's VIP card you can get 10% more off. I was lucky-yesterday they had a senior citizen special and I got an additional 20% off.

craftymatt2 02-09-2012 06:29 AM

Since JoAnns has it for 6.99 i think that should be reason enough to buy a roll. thank you for sharing
