Warm & Natural vs. Hobbs 80/20
I have always used Warm and Natural as my batting, but read that many quilters prefer Hobbs 80/20.
Please post your pros and cons of each. Thanks! Chaney Ranch |
I have used both interchangeably and haven't noticed a difference. Warm and Natural is easier to come by due to J's coupons and Warm and White is what I chose to buy in a large roll. Before I purchased the roll I would purchase Hobbs 80/20 at M's and HL with coupons. Just because I had the coupon.

I have used both quite a bit, and have decided that I don't really like the Hobbs 80/20. Part of that might be that I buy the W&N on a roll, so there are very few wrinkles to deal with. the Hobbs I have bought in packages where it gets all creased and stretche out, and have to put in a dryer for a while. What I really just don't like is the feel of poly on my hands. Just don't like to touch it. In the finished quilt, it's perfectly fine though.

I buy Warm and Natural on a roll and have been very pleased with it.

I use Warm and Natural for my wall hangings and such. For my bed quilts I use Hobbs 80/20. I get it from Connecting Threads when on sale. It is easier to quilt as I use my DSM.

I used to use W & N only and then when I moved to Iowa and started ordering my batting by the bolt from my local fabric shop I just assumed it would be W&N too. When I got it I found it to be Hobbs 80/20. I found I actually liked it better than the W&N as it seemed denser to me. So now I use Hobbs 80/20 exclusively.

I've used both and they were ok, however, after finding Quilters Dream, I'll never go back to either one.

I agree on the Quilters Dream, but I am way too prolific of a quilter to always spend the money. Can't get it for what I can get W&N or even the Bamboo blend at Hancock. When I see a good enough price on the Quilters Dream, I will grab it.

Mass Drop usually has deals on Quilter's Dream.

Since you've always used W&N why not pick up a Hobbs or Dream batt & try something different? There are many, many Wonderful battings on the market now. It's a shame to limit yourself to just W &N. Try different ones & decide what YOU like
