Good reminder....
Thank you for the warning. I'm new but I've noticed that when I'm going side to side my fingers get pretty close to the free motion quilting foot. Scary!
OOHH! Glad you didn't get hurt.
Good advice. I caught the edge of my finger yesterday. Thank goodness, I didn't get the nail.
Oh, I did that and I didn't think to warn anyone...I didn't draw blood either but was a close call. I use gardening gloves and they fit loose...maybe I will just invest in another pair of those thin quilting gloves. Can't think of the name. I wore one pair out.

Don't leave pins in your fabric and sleep on it, you will wake with a feeling of bump on your head trying to figure where/when you banged your head. After careful thought it will come to you your bump is an infection caused by the pins, that may require a shot for lockjaw.. It's happened to me crazy as it sounds try explaining your doctor that story.. Dr. "you did what?" Dr. "That's a new one!"
I did that once with my bathrobe sleeve!
I realized my gloves were not staying on my hands, and trying to fall off. The elastic was worn out. I cut a piece of elastic to fit around my wrist and sewed it onto the inside of the glove at the wrist with a wide zig-zag. Works well.
I haven't sewn through my glove or finger but I have sliced the top off y long finger nails. The rotary blade didn't even jump or stall.
Keep finger well away from edge of rulers and needles. |
Yes, and you better keep them away from those rotary blades. I had just purchased a new rotary cutter and the blade was also new and EXTREMELY SHARP. That was at least 9 months ago, and the finger, although healed, is still numb! I'm just glad I still have it!
