IRONING large yardages...and before you say anything..YES, I wash all fabrics that come into my house...I am avid about this due to the chemicals that are on the fabric!

having said that, when I have lots of fabric to wash, it means I have lots of yardage to iron...here is how I handle that! OH, I line dry to avoid those deep set in wrinkles the dryer can cause and the thread twisting/knots!

After I wash it, then just fold and set aside..I then take like colors, dampen them and put into a large ziploc bag (one of the super jumbo size) and place in the fridge over night...the threads will swell when wet and release the wrinkles, so I can press much easier!

I learned this from ironing the old military uniforms that were cotton...learned it from my mom who did my dads uniforms for 23 years....

my mom in law did that, too. i never had the room in the fridge. LOL

with the kids gone it is easier...I remember my dad asking my mom once when we were going to actually have veggies in the bin in the fridge, she calmly replied, I suppose when you retire!

That's how my mom always did her ironing. I'm going to try that too.

Oh thank you!!!!!! That's a great idea. Off to bookmark it :)
My Mom used one of those bottles with the sprinkler top and rolled up all the clothes. Nice memory :)
Haven't seen her do that in a long time lol

My grandmother used to do that I always wondered why she's and odd character sometimes so I just let it go now it makes sense!!

I have two of those still.....with the cork...won't fit in a plastic water bottle..I tried...might have to buy an old soda bottle to store them in for memories sake...I loved watching my granny iron with the soda sprinkler!

I remember my mom had a little white whale like Moby DIck and I just had to be the one to sprinkle the water and roll the clothes. OMG that was years and years ago. Love those memories.

Thanks for the tip on the big wrinkles, I try to pull yardage out of the dryer a couple of times and fluff around so it dosen't get all bunched up in the same spot. And still get'em.
