Larkrise to Candleford on the TV means mom is seriously sewing......I know each season of LRTC inside and out so I don't have to watch....I just listen. I know when the good parts are coming so I know when to look up!

I have both a TV and a stereo in my sewing room. If the tv is on while I am sewing, I am mostly listening to it and not so much watching. The tv is mounted on the wall in the back corner of the room and has several other purposes too. My sewing room is right off my kitchen, I can watch the news while I am cooking dinner. I also use the tv to entertain the grandkids if I am actually trying to sew or quilt while I am babysitting.

Wow, I have all of the "Murder She Wrote", all the released seasons of "Perry Mason", "Jag", "Sherlock Holmes" with Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce, "Charlie Chan", several seasons of 'House" and the list goes on. Can't say that I really watch any of them - but I listen. It is the movement according to people I talk to. When I was in high school we were tested to see how much were were effected by noisy. I found out I am much more productive with sound around me - I am less distracted by my own thoughts. My husband likes it because he can always find something to buy me for birthdays and Christmas.

I listen mostly, but all it takes to see the screen is to change the position of my eyeballs - don't even need to move my neck.

A few weeks ago I had on Simply Quilts, and got laughed at. "Sewing, with a quilting show on, this must be what Mom heaven is!" I responded "Someone made cheesecake?"

I may watch tv when I'm cutting fabric or pressing seams but I prefer to listen to an audio book. When I'm sewing I don't do either.

Music is my poison. I put on the iPod and sing away while I cut, sew, bind, FMQ, etc.

I like the background sounds. It keeps me company.

I usually watch movies that I know and so it is just company, but if I get interested in the movie, switch is hand sewing rather than machine sewing.

I just listen while I am quilting. Kind of like radio. lol

I usually enjoy the silence, but sometimes I listen to sirus soft background music. I can't really listen and think/sew at the same time :>)

I have a TV, but listen to audio books most often. I have them loaded on my iPod and use external speakers. Very easy to move around.

Same here - I love my audio books - but I like FREE so I check CDs out of the library. :)

Our library has a limited range of audiobooks, unfortunately. I have gone through the North Yorkshire and Darlington/Durham libraries, and borrowed all I can. I am currently listening to the C J Sansom's Matthew Shardlake series (5 mysteries set in Tudor England), and have Elly Griffiths (Ruth Galloway) and Ann Cleeves (Vera Stanhope) stacked up ready to roll when I have finished.
