If you're not talking a quilt because of autism them maybe 2 quilts. Try one regular pretty quilt and the other a flannel quilt.

FYI, I slept with my flannel rag quilt folded in four across my feet last night. Yeah, I know it is nice down here, but at night my feet have always been cold. The folded flannel quilt did the job ... with me wearing my sleep socks, of course.

I have made one. I bought pellets off of Ebay -the same ones they use to make corn hole bags. If you say "Weighted Blanket" the price goes up, you say "corn hole bags" and prices drop dramatically! I bought 8 pounds of pellets and paid right around 20.00 shipping included. The mom bought the fabric, otherwise I would have used stash.

How about using the plastic fish tank gems?

This is what I was going to suggest. Pellets can migrate, but the folded sheet will lay flatter and I think more comfortable.

Thanks to each and everyone of you for your suggestions and the Tut. I always get help when I come to you Guy's. That is one reason why I love this site. I will let you know how this all comes out. Have a great day and God Bless, Joy

I made bean bags for kids in my GS's autism classroom. I wanted something that was organic (eatable) in case one of them chewed through the fabric. I tried a variety of beans, etc. We have a very humid climate and also again the fact that they might end up in someone's mouth. I put the beans in water over night to see what happened. The best result was the pearl barley that is sold in the grocery store. There was no change after being soaked in water.

I went to the feed store and looked at all the options (couldn't believe how many there were). I made some with rice and some with little hard peas and some with something else, I don't recall.

The sheets work well but that's a kind of pricey approach, I found.
