Well, I'm done for the night! I have a couple boudoir bolster pillows all ready, they just need to be stuffed. I finished a Christmas ornament (although it looks a little lopsided!), a kitchen towel, and have a table topper top ready. In the morning, I will run to Walmart and Joann's to pick up a couple things. Definitely stuffing so I can finish the pillows!

I have really enjoyed seeing all the pictures and reading what everyone is up. I wish I had enough time to respond to every comment but then I wouldn't get anything done :)

Finally got down to my long arm for a few mintues. Half-way done the borders & sashing on this quilt. I got a bit sidetracked this morning with a trip to the quilt shop and lunch with a friend - didn't get home until after 4. So not much progress, although I still might venture up into my sewing room later this evening.

I am working on a couple of charity quilts. The charity is for the justice center that helps abused children. They said they needed quilts for teenagers rather than babies, so am trying to do some that will work for this age group. This peace sign fabric and bright colors seemed to be appropriate. A simple D9P pattern.

It's a good weekend, so far, for sewing. I'm working on a disappearing hourglass quilt, king size, for my sister. Watched Jenny's tute and was thrilled with it. Still am but now, I'm starching the heck out of the fabric because of all the bias edges. And I'm doing it on my new Viking Sapphire 960Q. This is the first project for the machine. So far, so good.

I am nearly finished with a 4th of July quilt panel. This panel is heavily embellished with metallic sliver,...not silver.. threads, red, blue and silver, yes I meant silver this time...LOL It was a lot of fun tempered with a bit of frustration with the metallic threads... but I love the results. Unfortunately, the metallics don't show much in photos but they should sparkle when I add the lights that came with the kit. Just stumped on the double fold binding right now, posted for some help. May not be ready until tomorrow but I am having my family here for a BBQ tomorrow so it should be ok.

Island Queen 07-04-2014 05:25 PM

I purchased the Frozen fleece this morning at Joann's. They told me that they had the fleece tie kits as well but I never saw them.

Well, my original idea of working on a tote didn't happen. But I managed to get 11 or 12 blocks done from the Tula Pink modern blocks book, Rectangles section. There are a couple more I want to finish from the Rectangles section, then get them on the design wall and decide what to do with them.

Well tonight I pressed them, still need to remove the papers... I like them but next time I will do a couple of things differently. My pattern said cut WOF strips, so I pinned the Thangles papers end to end and sewed.
Next time I will cut blocks of fabric large enough for 3 Thangles strips side by side and use a glue stick to hold them in place. I had some shifting with the long strips of fabric and may have to remake a few HSTs.

It was a gorgeous day in Kentuckiana but I didn't get any quilting done. Spent all day with my youngest son and his kids celebrating graduations. However, tomorrow is another day. Need to get my QRcode quilt ready to quilt so it will be ready to go to college with one of those graduates. Still hoping it will be readable when I am done.

KwiltyKahy 07-04-2014 09:31 PM

I love this fabric and always wondered what to do with it. This is great and should be very appropriate.

I'm working on string blocks and have been for the past week. The room looks like a bomb exploded and the pile of strings hasn't decreased at all!

maminstl 07-05-2014 02:57 AM

I spent most of my yesterday working on a beach ball quilt for a co-worker. Top is almost half complete, but I think I may set it aside to try and finish up a t-shirt quilt for a young friend. Just the quilting, so not my favorite part, but I would like to get it off my list. And, I'm itching to start on a garment for myself. Not sure what yet, but I've been cheating on you guys and spending time over on Pattern Review so now I'm all revved up to make a shirt or something. Lots of sewing time this weekend and enjoying every minute so far.

Don't you just love this line of fabric? I got a layer cake and will be doing a lap quilt with the same line.

Off to a good start this morning. Finished pressing all (144) half-square triangles for my current project. Now I'm headed down to the long arm to see if I can finish the borders & sashings on that quilt, before I give into the sunshine and head outside for a bit.

msrosecooks 07-05-2014 06:41 AM

Working on some applique, it can be pretty addicting!!! Would like to start a bag so that I can take it to sisters quilt show next week.

Here is my quilt so far its at the half way mark.... these are my boy's blue jeans being turned into a rag quilt for the couch. Its not been washed so I can't wait to see how it frays. Well I can't upload my picture.. not sure why

Well, I got my shopping done at Joann's this morning. I'm back in my sewing room this afternoon. I finished the 2 boudoir bolster pillows from yesterday although they look a little lumpy! And I sandwiched and quilted the hexagon table runner. If I make more of these, I might birth them instead of binding them. Binding the octagon was a pain :(

Raggiemom 07-05-2014 09:14 AM

Love the fabric you're using. I might make one of these one of these days. Actually it will be our 25th wedding anniversary in 4 years. That might make a nice present!

Thanks! Our Joann's had 2 of the fleece tie kits this am. I was the second person in the store and grabbed one. The person behind me grabbed the other. They didn't have any Frozen fleece though. I'm sure my niece will love the tied blanket though.

I think someone said they were working on a disappearing hourglass quilt. What does that look like?

Tumdarra 07-05-2014 12:24 PM

Hope everyone is having a great 4th, I am spending the time indoors. Doing a quilt for my soninlaw using the 10 minute block pattern...gotta love that block... Lovely inside the house but 109 outside :( ugh

I didn't type a message yesterday. I am working on my BOOM blocks. Finished two yesterday and one today so far. At the same time using border for a scrap quilt as my leader/enders so hope to have that together and finish the borders on that top tomorrow.

Hope everyone had a nice 4th. Glad Arthur was not much damage for you on the other coast.

My company left today so I am just relaxing today. I am hoping to work on a baby quilt tomorrow for my hair stylist and two princess themed applique quilts for two darling sisters in Connecticut. They are my SIL's grandnieces and so precious!

Well, I'm done sewing for the day. I have some cleanup and organizing to do before I start back up tomorrow. I finished a couple simple scarves for Christmas presents. I started to work on a 60 min round potholder and a small cosmetic bag but was missing an essential piece for each even though I just went to Joann's today! So I placed an amazon order which will be here Wed.

Thanks for the link for the hourglass quilt :)

Doggramma 07-05-2014 02:53 PM

I figured out what I want to do with my Tula Pink blocks from yesterday. But we ended up going down to Rockford today and I got the cutest Bunny Hill pattern and kit-- Postcard Cuties, darling wool snowmen appliques. But I am planning to / making myself finish the other quilt first.

oldtisme 07-05-2014 03:37 PM

Plan on making 1 more star for the MSQC Big Star quilt, I miscalculated so had to order a couple more yards of the back ground, play around some more with my new Janome 6600 and start on a kit to work on until my fabric comes in.

lindaschipper 07-06-2014 05:55 AM

I will be joining you as I work on fixing a quilt/comforter for the man in my life. His grandmother made it for him over 40 years ago and some of the pieces have fallen apart over the years. I'll be taking some of it apart and replacing the flannel squares and then tying it all back again with blue yarn. With love to Steve from "Grandma" and me!!

meanmom 07-06-2014 07:17 AM

Raggiemom I am from Cincinnati, OH too, Well just north in Fairfield. Yes we are having a gorgeous weekend here . I just got home from vacation and 2 picnics yesterday. I need to repair the mess my DH and 2 DS made while I was gone. Hopefully I can quilt later this afternoon and evening. I am loving the pictures.

WisWis 07-06-2014 07:32 AM

Lovely mats. Nice colours.

Raggiemom 07-06-2014 02:34 PM

I hope everyone had a wonderful quilting weekend. I am tentatively planning the next one for 9/12-14. Hope to see many of you then! I generally accomplish quite a bit on these weekends. And with all the patterns and fabric, it's nice to use some of it:)

Leslie333 07-06-2014 06:11 PM

It was fun to see what everyone was doing this weekend! My productivity went down when DH and DS returned on Saturday night, but I got 2 of my 4 placemats quilted and the other 2 are pieced. Should be able to finish them up this week. You can see them here where I was looking for input on the quilting: http://www.quiltingboard.com/main-f1...s-t249634.html

judy363905 07-07-2014 05:25 PM

Just checking in to see if there was a response to questions on the Christmas placemats photos Manicquilter posted... Sadly there was none. Maybe another link at a later time.
