I agree I used my bobbins for the singer which looked the same but I did have a few problems. When I took it in for a problem that I caused while cleaning it & babysitting at the same time. I had to have them put it back together for me. They sold me the right ones & it has made a huge difference.

I now have my fourth Janome and have loved everyone, more and more!

Bobbins ... Some will look very close and you may be tempted to use them .... then you might wonder why your machine does not work right. Just buy them from your dealer so you are sure to have the right ones.

jaciqltznok 05-13-2012 07:03 AM

nice, now open the top and have your DH cut a piece of 1/2" plywood to put on it to cover the singer machine and you will have your space again! OH...and you might want to put a piece of thick Berber carpet on the plywood, to keep that Janome from jumping around!

Congratulations! Have fun with her!

We had talked about doing something like that.

Wonderful machine! Congratulations to you!

Oh did you know that hancock fabrics sells the different feet and bobbins for janome? I know many quilting stores do too. I bought every one of them at windy moon quilts and hancocks when I had my janome. It was so inexpensive compaired to the bernina feet. Thier site shows all that available, janome.com I believe. And there is lots of projects and tutorials on how to use the feet too. A walking foot is a must! I sold mine on the quilting board a year ago christmas.

Enjoy the new machine. You will love it!

This has nothing to do with Janome, but I LOVE, LOVE Windy Moon. Such a great place and the staff is friendly too.

It's a great machine; you'll love it.

Caswews 05-13-2012 11:50 AM

Nice !! enjoy sewing/quilting on it !

debquilts2 05-13-2012 11:56 AM

just rewind it onto your new bobbins like a spool of thread congrats on the new Janome

tngal22 05-13-2012 01:12 PM

newbiequilter, I love that store too! Hubby had a conference in Reno in March and that was one place I made him take me. I didn't get much but could have stayed all day.

Love my Janome. Beware of the height of the machine hurting back and shoulders if you usually have your machine in a cabinet. The extra height killed my neck, back, shoulders, until I adjusted my table. Good luck! Can't spell height today, sorry.

Nice Machine

Elaine433 05-13-2012 02:54 PM

That is a great machine. Congratulations, hope you truly enjoy it.

Congrats on your new Janome. I purchased one last August and 3 weeks ago a got an error when sewing and the machine froze up. I called my dealer and he thought it was the fuse so he ordered one because he didn't have one in stock. A week later I still had not heard from him so I found another dealer who had a fuse she told me to bring it in and she would have it the next day. After 4 more days I called and she said she had been busy and hadn't had a chance to fix it. She called me later in the day and told me it was not a fuse but the motherboard and she would order one and have it for me last Monday. On Tuesday I had not heard from her so I called and she said she was just getting to it. A couple of hours later she called to say that Janome sent the wrong motherboard and it will be at least another week. I love my Janome and everyone that has one is so happy with them. I guess I just got a lemon and living in a small community the service isn't that great. I hope when I get it back it works good and I don't have any more problems with it. I have been a pretty mean lady the last 3 weeks without my machine. I am sure that this is a rare occasion after reading all the threads on the board.

tngal22 05-13-2012 03:42 PM

I have noticed the height. I will probably have to change out chairs since I can't adust the table. But that is ok. Hubby fixed me a board to put over the hole where my Singer goes and I covered it with some left over layer cakes. So I am ready to get to sewing!

Spuddy 05-13-2012 03:55 PM

I have a Janome just like yours, and a absolutely love it. Have a great time with your machine. God Bless

jeanharville 05-13-2012 04:38 PM

I just bought my first Janome too. Mine is the lighter and cheaper version DC1050 to take to classes and to travel. Anyway, I have been very impressed with its good straight stitch, quietness, and variety of stitches. since I've only had it a couple of weeks, I can't vouch for how long it will last. But everyone else seems very pleased. Good luck with yours and I'm very happy for you.

athenascooter 05-13-2012 05:46 PM

Congratulations on the Janome. I have 3. One was just a simple machine my other two are quilting 6260 and 5200. I love to use them and I just gave my grandson's wife the simple machine. I also have a Viking from the 70s but it's too heavy to keep lifting and think of selling.

tngal22 05-13-2012 06:03 PM

Thanks! I am keeping the Singer since it is a close friend of the family's grandmother's. Hubby fixed a board for me to cover the hole so I could fold out the table for my sewing space. I covered with fabric. ;) I already have some ideas of projects and hope to start them this week while my mom is in town.

I did have an issue today. I was trying the combo stitching and the fabric got jammed in the bobbin area. Then the needle broke. :( But I got the fabric out and changed the needle (not sure how long that was in there) so I hope I am ready to get sewing soon.

CAS49OR 05-13-2012 06:47 PM

I love the Janome I bought on ebay years ago. Inspired me to learn to sew. I couldn't just leave it sitting in the box -- although I did for years. I found a guy that sells most of the feet I don't have on ebay too. So now I just have to figure out how to sew and what I might need...

connie d 05-13-2012 06:58 PM

I think you will really enjoy your new machine. I know I love mine. :)

tngal22 05-13-2012 07:00 PM

Thanks! I hope to get a new cutting mat this week so I can start sewing. I hope to make another self binding receiving blanket then I am thinking of makeing a D9P quilt out of same fabric I picked up while at the place I got my machine.

tngal22 05-13-2012 07:24 PM

Here is my sewing area! Need to re-organize some stuff but at least I got my sewing area table back.

Janome uses an "A" bobbin also known as class 15. Enjoy your new machine. I love my janomes.

Painiacs 05-13-2012 08:38 PM

Congratulations. All those special stiches!! Can u just wind the old thread onto new bobbins??

pinkberrykay 05-14-2012 04:10 AM

I have that exact same sewing table and DH was able to fit my DC3050 right into the original cutout after making a little shelf for it to sit on.

Congrats on your new machine she is lovely.

Natalie17 05-14-2012 04:16 AM

I love both my little Janome I carry to guild and the bigger one . They are both so quiet and I love them . I think you will too . I have my work horse Bernina and it is a really good machine too. I have a universal sewing table to sell that fits the Janome. It is listed in the area of things to sell. Enjoy that machine .

We talked about that but I did want it where I could use the free arm since I make lots of skirts and pants for my DD. And he had just the right size board and I had left over layer cakes that fit just right over it. I put a strip of velcro on the back to keep it from moving. It seems to work thus far.

And thanks everyone. I hope to do some sewing on her today actually! So far it has been playing with the stitching and just sewing the layer cakes together to cover the wood.

Yooper32 05-14-2012 05:20 AM

Try them first. If they don't work well in the new machine, just put them on the thread peg and rewind onto a new bobbin.

Dakota Rose 05-14-2012 07:26 AM

I bought the same one back in Nov. Haven't had a lot of time to sew but so far I love it. My old Touch and Sew could not be repaired and this one was recommended by the dealer (he also sells the Singer). For every 2 Singer bobbbins I bring in he will give me one Janome bobbin. Just have to take my thread off so I can save it before I take any more in to him. I am glad to hear all the good things about this machine. Thanks, everybody.

tngal22 05-14-2012 07:28 AM

After I saw the machine at the dealers, I came home and read the reviews on it on several sites. I don't think I found one bad review at all. So that helped me make my decision. I went first thing the next morning to get it. I have just used it for playing around but so far I love it. I am just amazed at how quiet it is.

hodgepodge 05-14-2012 09:19 AM

Congrats on your new machine. You will love it. I love my 9700 it dose everything. There just seems to be so little time to play with it.

I agree on this:
Bobbins ... Some will look very close and you may be tempted to use them .... then you might wonder why your machine does not work right. Just buy them from your dealer so you are sure to have the right ones.

Also a little tip on winding the bobbins, make sure you have it threaded right or you will wind up with very loose and tangled thread on the bobbin (I did).
Yes you can save the thread by winding new bobbin off the old bobbin.

nstitches4u 05-14-2012 06:52 PM

Congratulations! You wil love your Janome.

zanyjany 05-14-2012 08:15 PM

:thumbup:I have the Janome DC 2012 and love it....to make it even quiter I set mine on the rubberized shelf liner and it doesn't move around either!!!

EllenwoodGa 05-14-2012 09:31 PM

Congradulations on your new Jamone, You will enjoy sewing on it. I have a cheap one and I've use it for the past 3 years. I just purchased a Ellna, but I haven't set it up yet..........Enjoy your new baby.

Natalie17 05-20-2012 04:07 AM

The table I mentioned is one that fits around the machine. It has compartments for accessories and lets your quilt top lay on it to move it about easier
