Boy were they boring!! We've got the best one right here. Thank goodness I found this one first. No one is on those others really and they don't talk much either.

So, if anyone out there is looking to find a forum-this one is the best, don't go anywhere else!! :D

littlehud 04-25-2009 07:19 PM

So good to hear. I thought we must be the best. LOL

ScubaK 04-25-2009 10:00 PM

I figured that out a couple of years ago...ok, maybe not that long but I did realize pretty quick that this board has the nicest, friendliest, wonderful people here!

I have n ever doubted it!

sewaholic 04-26-2009 01:03 AM

I lurked for ages before I joined. Best thing I ever did. It is the first site I come to when I turn on my "puter. :D I first go to pictures. then make my way around.
Love to see the new projects that get posted over night.

Ninnie 04-26-2009 01:05 AM

I found it by accident and never looked again. Check it out first thing when I get up, no matter what time it is. It is 5:05 AM here.

I check it a couple times a day, just to relax me. Have a stressful job sometimes and I love to see what others are working on, since I haven't much time to sew lately.

I've never moved byond this site for info, there's enough here to keep me going for decades!

So glad we have this forum, thanks to all who are members, moderators and our Admin. guy.

Ditto.. I went to a few last night to see what was out there and can I say NOOO ONEEEE was near as friendly as you guys have been. You all have been a blessing for me. Thanks for all the encouragement because after that first block and trying to get it perfect I would have quit if not for yall. Oh yea it is still not perfect (Is there such a block? I bet there are several on here that make perfect without even putting out any effort.)

I have been a member of other forums, (mostly decorative painting up until recently, when I got the quilt bug again...) and I have to say, this is by far the best group I have been associated with. No one will agree with everyone else all the time, but even then, no one really seems to "get their back up" and keep it there...

Rhonda 04-26-2009 10:05 AM

I was asked to join Facebook by a friend and I looked on there and found some places to join a quilt group but I wasn't happy with what I found. Not current and nobody was talking much or very often. I followed a link on someone's site that was on Facebook and I found myself here!! I loved it! I did go look for a comparable site and couldn't find anything that was as warm and inviting as this one. I saw a few but they were not well attended and they seemed dry and not real interesting to me.
I have enjoyed getting to know you all on here and have been shocked at how well received my Ebook was. I never expected the fantabulous response I got. This is not the reason I love this site tho. I love this group because of the love and caring you all show even and maybe especially when someone has problems! keep it up! You are making the world a better place one person and one quilt at a time!! I am very proud to be a member of such a group of people!!
It really filled a need in my life and i am not!!! talking about the book!

RedGarnet222 04-26-2009 10:51 AM

Here here .... I totally agree whole heartedly! Thanks for such a great site!

ghostrider 04-26-2009 12:19 PM

Isn't this rather like discussing which is better, chocolate or vanilla? This board mostly appeals to new quilters, those that use ready-made patterns, that favor traditional quilt blocks, and that want things fast and easy. Other boards have other characteristics and appeal to other types of quilters. That does not make their members any less friendly, caring or helpful. None is "better" than another, they are just different. An open mind, like an open door, can bring many worthwhile experiences.

Ninnie 04-26-2009 12:56 PM

Chocolate is Better, everybody knows that!! LOL

You are absolutely correct! :D

Mari 04-26-2009 01:54 PM

I agree. Other boards I read, but seldom participate in, seem to be bent upon established cliques. Such as-- swaps related to birthdays, or other fancy names, which I never ever read. Why should I when I am not interested in swaps? I am, more interested in a quilter's experience or questions and sharing those, than I am, in joining up with others in their swaps ad infinitum. I saw little interest in discussion of the various techniques or problems we all must face in quilting. It was more like a clique than a discussion of quilting. Some of them can also be nasty or ignore a newcomer into their clique if there is a hint of questioning. But I do not have to participate in those and I don't. I scroll past all the irrelevant postings that are not interesting to me. This site provides the best and the most friendliest of quilting information in a good format. One site I read, with the headings of non quilt related posts has more chatty, non quilt related headings than quilt related headings and often it is a discussion containing whining for something or the other. This site is really the best of them all..

Shemjo 04-26-2009 02:06 PM

It is great we have choices. I am glad to be here!

Mousie 04-26-2009 02:29 PM

well, I believe in choices too, and I choose...HERE! This place feels like home to me... where my quilting family is.
I have been active here, about five and a half months, and in that time, I have experienced all kinds of things in my everyday life, and I can either hop on here and share, and get so much in return, or I can come here, to 'get away' from it all.
I've laughed, cried, learned, been surprised, overjoyed,...you name it, but never bored. The best part is, it's all centered around quilting, but has different things, for all parts of our lives. It's like a wheel, where the center is the quilting, and the spokes are all of my friends, and the sharing and caring, are what make it go round.
It ain't broke, so i ain't lookin to fix it. Sometimes, I even feel when a 'spoke' is missing, and I poke around to see if they are ok.
Right now, someone has been 'away', and she will be back, maybe, hopefully, by tomorrow, to grease this wheel. woo hoo, I just love it. :D

Amen!

Rhonda 04-26-2009 03:48 PM

I don't disagree with you Ghostwriter and Moonpi and whoever else agreed. I just had a better experience here than any I looked at. I realize there are a lot of sites out there to discuss quilting and they have alot to offer to quilters. They are just not for me. I thought I would join more than just one but could not find any I wanted to join in on. Doesn't mean I won't come across one that is worth my time in the future!
Each to their own!! We all have to make our own decisions according to what works best for each one of us. Totally agree with choices!!

quiltsRfun 04-26-2009 09:17 PM

No one is on those others really
I've found that to be the case as well. I check the others occasionally but this board is where I mostly hang out. It's where I get my quilt-talk fix for the day.

Darlene 04-27-2009 03:14 AM

I belong to several quilt forums and I must say I enjoy this one the most. There are good things about the others but here feels more like home.

I did the same thing. I don't post often, but I am "peeking" constantly. I look at the posted pictures at the beginning of the day. It's like breakfast and coffee for me!

You are absolutely correct! :D

I strongly don't agree. When you post a question on a forum or board and noone answers you or aknowledges you then I do not think it is a matter of being differant but of being a not so terrific message board.
I have seen some that are not well attended- none on it for days or weeks and that does not speak well of that forum.
I am not saying there are not good ones out there but if you can't talk to anyone on it is not any good to me.
I had gotten the same lack of interest on every one I had looked at before I found this one. The first thing I looked for here was how long ago had anyone posted anything on it. If it is more than a day or two or a week at the most then I wasn't interested.

And for the record I have been quilting for 30 years I am not a beginner and I know some of you like Izy are experienced quilters as well.

Yes everyone has differant needs but to generalize those needs leaves some of us out of your equation.
No intention to offend anyone but in my opinion I get more of my quilting needs of companionship and quilt talk and ideas from here than anywhere else I have been online or off.
Because we have a large diversity of skill levels and personalities there is something for everyone not just one type of quilting or a narrow view of what quilting should be. And there is rarely a negative comment made here. This is not intended to be negative just my opinion!

That is what makes this "Better " than most (you notice I said MOST) boards that are out there. I will allow that there are probably good ones out there but I have not seen them.

I enjoy all of you and listening to your lives!! Thanks for letting me rant!! Rhonda

dlf0122quilting 04-29-2009 08:05 AM

I used to be on one that never would answer your questions and they rarely talked about quilting, more about family and dates and personal stuff. I am so glad I found this site and it will be forever my favorite.

Shemjo 04-29-2009 08:26 AM

I like the diversity on this board, and being able to get answers to my requests! People here are sew helpful, friendly, and giving. It meets my needs and I will be here until it no longer does that, OR my computer self destructs! :?

I totally agree ! This is the best place to be ! And our " family " is still growing . Annie

Unfortunately I did not find this one first. But I feel like the old saying "I saved the best for last". This is a friendly and (what I really need) non-judgemental board. Very encouraging to all and that means a lot. I don't have too much to offer but I do jump in when I think what I have to say might help someone and I appreciate everyone being so helpful when I ask a question. They answer in a very caring manner. Dixie in Alabama

MadQuilter 04-29-2009 09:51 AM

huh - there are other boards?

Why? :D

JoanneS 04-29-2009 08:08 PM

I'm SO GLAD I found this board. I lurked for a very short time before jumping in with both feet, because I realized that everyone was friendly and helping each other. When someone asks a question, no one blows them off. That's why I feel free to express myself - knowing that even if someone has a different approach, they won't YELL at me - they'll just give their own advice in addition to mine. And when I have a question I know others will take it seriously.

And I LOVE THE LIVE CHATS!!!

CindyBee 04-30-2009 12:55 AM

I've visited other boards in the past just to see what's out there. I agree that this board is the best! I have to check it out at least once a day and sometimes several times a day. This board just feels like home to me. One thing I didn't like about some of the other boards is wading through all the huge blinking, screaming signature lines. Others may feel differently, but I find it distracting and annoying.

Quilt Mama 04-30-2009 05:25 AM

Different strokes for different folks. This is my third member board. Just like real friends forums offer different types of friendship. Life would be boring if we all were happy with only one thing in life.

mary 04-30-2009 10:29 AM

I agree with each and everyone of you!!! to me this is the BEST, as each person tries to help all the others in their time of need. Sometimes we only need to talk and someone to listen, at other times we need advice and help, which is always so freely given. Thanks to all of you for making it this way. Thanks to our administrator that keeps things interesting and constructive. Mary

Pigeon Patty 04-30-2009 10:30 AM

I have never even tried this before. This is my very first! What is the purpose and why?
Where in Montana?

montanaquilter 04-30-2009 11:07 AM

what is the purpose of what? I live in the northeastern corner of montana. near the canadian border and close to the north dakota border.

Joanne, I do so wish the lurkers felt like you, and decided to give it a go...but it's ok, if they just don't have anything to say.
I used to be like that. Then I got married, and over the years, hubby has brought me out of my shell! way out, sometimes, but I just like having fun. I try to behave.
I have so many friends here, and the quilting pics and info are fantastic, but without the friendships, it wouldn't be quite the same.

ania755 04-30-2009 02:58 PM

You should get a fine for even trying to think there is a better place then this one....

stitchinMamaw 04-30-2009 03:12 PM

Very well put quiltncrazy . I lurked too , didn't last very long . After I found out how friendly and helpful everyone is , just jumped right in . I have learned a lot and am still learning

Pigeon Patty don't run away scared . I didn't quite understand your post . What were you wanting to know ? By the way WELCOME :D

Annie

kd124 04-30-2009 11:03 PM

I perfer this forum to any other. As others have stated, it is the friendliest, most supportive, and caring group. I am not a beginner and I create some of my own designs. Yet, I have learned quite a bit on this board. There are many talented people here who are very willing to help others. That is one of the things that makes this forum so special.

QuiltyLisa 05-01-2009 06:40 AM

i absolutely love this board and have met some very wonderful quilters. I do not go to any other board. And the live chat here is to die for!!
