Someb0ody tell us please.

DogHouseMom 10-10-2011 06:23 PM

Oh ask CraftyBear - she's a pro at "mypages". In fact, you can look at her pages by searching for her, then on her profile, click on 'user pages' and you can see everything that she saved for public use.

THAT is how she finds links to pretty much everything licketysplit!!

It is blank because you have to create your own pages. The easiest way to explain is just to show you one. Click on this link and you can see all of the pages that Craftybear has created.

It is a great way to save groups of things you want to find again. I just started one of coloring pages for applique. Don't want to do them now, but I'll be able to find them when I am ready without using the Search feature.

My pages is for links you save from the QB, from the web, from your files, whatever you want to have access to.

You can make a page for recipes
Or for Pumpkin Patterns
Or Tutorials you want to use later
Or pictures you want to refer to.

Unlimited number of things you can put in there.

SherriB 10-10-2011 07:04 PM

I love the My Pages feature. I have a long list of things saved there. It is kind of like bookmarking pages, but only organized by how you want them. I have pages for 1930's fabrics, tumbler quilts, applique, tutorials, etc. I also have pages for computer information, vintage machine links, etc. And your list is automatically alphabetized by the first letter of you page title. Once you use it, you will love the feature.

When you click on a member's name, you can check out their "My Pages".

Murphy 10-10-2011 07:37 PM

I just created a page and called it Murphy's Home Page. I think it is a place you can leave notes for yourself, but not sure if others can see it. On the right you can add or delete it. Note sure of the purpose, but seems to be a note area. My best guess (smile).

It is really nice because there is a limit to how many items you can bookmark, so you can save all kinds of information in My Pages.

Anybody can view your user pages.

I have 2 pages and one has all of the links to the Tymeless hearts quilts I was making. I forgot what the other one has.
You can use it like a book mark and keep links to future projects you want to make.

Editing: my other page is the links to the few tutorials I did on the QB.

this is how I understand it too, sort of like having a notepad built into the forums.

stitchinbee 10-10-2011 08:20 PM

hey, i really like this idea. i'm glad the question was asked. it opens up a whole new way to communicate. i wish there was a way to promote this feature more so more people would take advantage of it, thus more sharing. :) thanks for explaining. :)

My Pages is not the same as My Topics. If you click on my name over to the left and then click on my 'My Pages', you will see the categories I have stored. It can be websites from the board and/or other websites, blogs, etc. It is better than bookmarking something. Bookmarking tool only lets you save 100 bookmarks and then it starts eliminating the oldest ones. Plus, Bookmark does not let you organize it in any order. I love My Pages and the fact that you can learn things from other members' My Pages.

craftybear 10-10-2011 09:48 PM

Hi Everyone,

I love the my pages feature you can have up to 100 pages and you can post tons of links in each file folder of things you find here on the quilting board by catergories

Here is the information that Amma typed up to explain "My Pages"

http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-76366-1.htm

This is to my link to share with all of you things I have saved on my pages:

http://www.quiltingboard.com/user_pa...p?usernum=6442

you can do a search by user list or go their profile to see if they have saved any my pages

Here is my profile and you scroll down to the bottom and click on list and it will take you to my pages for all of you to enjoy.

When I am surfing and find the 5 links to post per day then I post them in my link catergory here on the board. I am still organizing them by catergory of all of the links that I have posted.

This is the link to the topics that I have created and posted to the board that you can look at also

thanks..I hope to learn how to use this so I can move my bookmarked stuff over!

RV Quilter 10-11-2011 03:19 AM

I learned when Crafty Bear posted info about My Pages. I save quilt ideas, other pattern ideas, pictures of quilts that I really like, things I want to make. You can save Quilt Board tutorials or outside links and when necessary add a note to remind what it takes me to. Love it! You name your files.

Ditto!
I'm going to put it to good use.

munchkinmama 10-11-2011 04:56 AM

I think I will just use CrafyBears.

Thank you for asking this, Jaqui. I have been wondering too.

LMBO. You might as well. She has it all!! Got to love her.

Bonbonary 10-11-2011 07:16 AM

How is that different from "My bookmarks?" That's where I save things I want to find again.

I was wondering how many things you can bookmark. Mine is getting pretty full.

From the way you are describing it, sure sounds a lot like Pinterest, my latest addiction:

This is what Admin posted quite awhile ago:
Bookmarks allow at least 75 entries. After that, not all of them would be shown.

polly13 10-11-2011 10:47 AM

Thanks, craftybear, for the help. My first topic is Quilting Board Use. I practiced several times but finally saved My Page directions. This computer use is worse than trying to make the seams match and points meet.

schnupp 10-11-2011 11:21 AM

Am I not looking at the right place ?
I do not have a " MY pages " place to click? How can I get one. Will keep watching because it sounds like something I'd like to use.
Be assured, though, I am computer illiterate!!!!

My Pages is right underneath Live Chat. You will get it with practice. It takes me several tries to catch on.

moonwolf47 10-11-2011 11:27 AM

Thanks for this. Didn't even know it was there!

madamekelly 10-11-2011 12:24 PM

I just looked at craftybear's pages and have decided I want to be her in my next life. She is so organized! Thank you Craftybear!

Shoofly1 10-11-2011 02:45 PM

Sure glad you brought this up as I've been printing instructions out.

I tried to copy a picture to My Pages several times and it isn't working for me. After I right click on the picture I want to save, what should I do?

KLO 10-11-2011 03:26 PM

Yes, this is much better than bookmarking because you can set up "files" such as someone else mention. I was bookmarking everything that I wanted to save but it was so hard to go back and find a specific bookmark. Once I found out how to use the My Pages feature, I could organize everything. Now I can put tutorials I want to save under one caption, interesting websites under another, photos from quilt shows that someone has posted under another, etc. Click on My Pages and you will be able to figure it out by "doing". I am technologically challenged and I was able to work my way through it.

Shoofly1: I copy the "address" and then paste it in the My Pages files under whichever specific file I have made that I want to save it in such as Photos in your example. Then I can go back to My Pages whenever I want and click on that "address" in the Photo file and it will bring up the posting that I saved. Does this make sense? Maybe not and maybe this is not even the right way to do it but it works for me. Now I can find what I wanted to save!!!

BarbZ 10-11-2011 04:28 PM

i went to crafty's site and found she had a topic my bookmarks in alphabetical order. How do you do it:.??? That would help me a lot just to have my bookmarks in order.

Shoofly1 10-11-2011 05:02 PM

Thanks KLO, I wasn't copying the "address." I'm going to have so much fun with this.

schnupp 10-11-2011 05:55 PM

Thank you everyone for your help. I hope I will get it all figured out. At least I know where it is now. Cut and paste are not terms I do, but I did that many years ago when I was a child!!!!! Sooo much to learn.
