WOW! What a compliment! You must be special and love the Lord like I do. He can give us inspiration. I've made a series of Christian quilts...wish we could quilt together.

I got a valentine "book" from my grandson and in it he wrote of his vacation with grandma last summer and the last page drew tears to my eyes! He said 'grandma is the best 4-wheeling grandma in the whole world'.............. he would ride with me to feed the goats - so it was not a race or showing off type ride; all business and he loved it! Along with each page in teh book he drew pictures of the topic - it included fishing, cookie baking, and grandma on the 4-wheeler - THE MOST PRECIOUS GIFT I EVER RECEIVED!

But, then he also had 3 quilts I have made for him and he does not sleep with less than one on his bed summer or winter.

These are all so heart-warming to read :)

from my daughter - she tells me I'm the best mom she's ever had!

reginalovesfabric 05-23-2011 06:00 AM

years ago when my daughter Lori was a teenager, she and her friend Lori were always together. I cooked all the time and the other Lori's mother, coming from a rich family, played tennis all day and feed her kids TV dinners. The other Lori asked my Lori if she wanted to trade moms and my Lori told her "heck NO"

I recently made a teal and white quilt for a 37 yr old friend with cervical cancer. Teal and white are the colors for cervical cancer. On the back of the quilt I embroidered a label with the cancer awareness ribbon in teal and wrote the words "I wear Teal for a friend." She loves the label as much as the quilt. Really got to me.

Mine was my first large quilt, a queen size, all dogs fabric with a picture of my GS's dog in the middle. He was 13 at the time. It wasn't what he said, it was the look on his face! I will remember it always; it was better than words. His jaw dropped open and his eyes got huge. He just sat there and then broke out in the most beautiful smile. That said it all!

You can sense the love of Jesus in your quilts!

It doesn't get any better than that for me.

when my youngest daughter found a wedding dress, that was to small for her...and she bought it anyway, told the lady " no problem My mom can make it fit"I hung it in between my sewing room and the living room doors and looked at it for a week ....few nasty words left my mouth.then out of the clear blue...I made it work.
and she was so pretty ...her dress cost less then $50.00to buy and remake.

loriea 05-23-2011 10:43 AM

My best compliment in recent memory was from my DIL. She said she saw me as a confident woman. This sure did not fit my past.

When my girlfriend of many years says "and you still don't have any wrinkles"...thank you mom, dad and God!

AVQuilter 05-23-2011 11:07 AM

When my oldest son who was 41 called to thank me and was in tears as he was so happy with his quilt. It was all 70's colors as he was my only flower child...LOL. Everytime I walked past it, I started singing Yellow Submarine and sent the Beatles CD with the quilt. He was raised on Beatles music. I embroidered a peace sign in the corner plus a label to reflect the time,1967 when he was born.

grandma sue 05-23-2011 11:23 AM

When my son posted his wife's picture on facebook wearing the wedding dress I had made her 15 years ago. she has recently lost alot of weight and her wedding dress is huge on her now. He wrote a comment on the picture that his mother made the dress and handbeaded all the lace. Several people commented about how beautiful it was. Then the other day, their daughter (my beautiful granddaughter who is 10) asked me if I would make her wedding dress because she will be taller than her mom and her dress would be too short. She said maybe we could use some of the same beaded lace since I will be too old to handbead all that lace again! But even that was a compliment to me!

I think mine was this weekend!! I made the attached family history wall hanging for my mother in-laws 80th birthday. I gave it to her on Friday and she wanted it displayed during the party for everyone to see. Now...I have 20 people that wants one...LOL

grandma sue 05-23-2011 11:27 AM

I made a photo quilt of the family for my FIL 80th birthday. He never used it to cover up - he wanted to hang it on the wall. He was a carpenter and made a beautiful quilt hanger for it. It was proudly displayed in their home. When he died in March at the age of 90, they draped the quilt on the altar at his funeral. That made me so proud and so glad I made it for him.

Also, yesterday after church, my 7 YO GS asked if I would be a sponsor at church day camp. I told him I thought I was too old (I'm 64) but he said I was a fun old person!

When my 16 yr. old daughter told me, "You're the best mother anyone could ever have", and I hadn't done anything for her nor bought her anything.

I received an unexpected compliment last month in April when a friend that I started taking quilting classes with about 15 years ago, belongs to the same sewing guild that I do. She said, "Pat I have watched you grow into a wonderful quilter." I remember when we took our first class together in a quilt shop with an elementary pattern. We didn't know a thing. She said this while she was giving a demonstration in front of everyone!. It really made my day. evening, next day, well you get the idea. It was totally unexpected.

Oh enough already.

linhawk 05-23-2011 05:35 PM

I would be honored to have one of your quilts

linhawk 05-23-2011 05:37 PM

I would be honored to have one of your quilts. oops thought you meant a quilt compliment

linhawk 05-23-2011 05:39 PM

2nd best was when dh said I was the most beautiful person he knew...inside and out..ahh maybe that was first

jollyquilting 05-23-2011 05:46 PM

When my sisters friend looked at the quilt and said she was really lucky to have someone who loved her so much. I did and I do.

quiltgrammyt2 05-23-2011 06:15 PM

In 2008 my DMIL wrote in my B-day card, "They say beautiful people make beautiful things, your quilts reflect that this is true"
