I am wanting to try one, just maybe a small one (wall hanging) to begin with, so what is the best method for them? I see several templates and books for sale just not sure which one is best.

Thanks for your input!

I have never made one, but the method that intrigues me the most is Eleanor Burns' method from Egg Money Quilts. There is a video on her Quilt in a Day site that explains it well and even shows how to make a table runner.

It's on my list after I finish my Dresden Plate, also by her method.

I made a wedding ring quilt. I used a template that I made out of a manila folder. I got the pattern out of a magazine. I didn't find it to be hard at all to make and Im a fairly new quilter too. One thing you really want to do is to make sure to iron all your pieces so that they will go together easy. I posted one on here.

I've used the book by Chery Phillips called Rings That Bind. You can find it on Amazon

I found it very easy to follow.

I used the paper piece method I loved it made it very easy to get straight lines and archs.

Thanks for all the input so far! I have watched the Eleanor Burns video, she does make it look easy.

Gaby4v that is a beautiful quilt! I will look into that book.

Jade, i have not heard of the paper pieced method, is there a book or a link for that one?

Also, has anybody used the templates and small book they have at Joanns? It comes all together. I wondered about that one.

Melslove, forgot to mention, that the book is coming with the ruler you will need.

This is the one I used. It was fun and relatively easy. It was, I will admit, a little daunting, cutting out all those pieces. But once it was done, it was extremely atisified as was the customer I had done it for. I had tried the whole ring method before, and was not happy with the outcome. I know it's just me, but, traditional patterns deserve traditional piecing, even if we use sewing machines.
