I guess the sad part is, people like that would be just as happy with a Chinese knockoff. You really did duck the bullet on that one. Why do some people believe that quilting is free?

I love that pattern, but you can tell it would involve alot of work on your part. Someone who doesn't quilt would never understand. Glad you found out up front what she wanted was a cheap price for a wonderful handmade quilt. Again I say, when people don't quilt they don't realize what work and money goes into our quilts.

That was EXACTLY her comment--" but I can get something similiar from the ABC catalog as a 5 piece set (shams, curtians, dust ruffle, etc.) for $49.95. I told her to go ahead and buy that. If she doesn't see the difference then I didn't want to waste my time!

so she wanted you to do it for $25 since you weren't doing a 5 piece set.

She is ridiculous! That would have been a total waste of your time. People just don't understand!

Like a dumby I am also making one for a co worker, I did not give her a price but make sure I show her every step and my sore fingers from hand quilting. She is a good friend and I know she will pay me what she can afford. Trouble is now another co-worker wants one too. I am hem hawing that one. I will see what I get for this one first. All the quilters at work say no less than $500. I know I won't get that much. I wouldn't have done it except I wanted to make something and I do enjoy it. I think you did the right thing by telling her how much and leting her escape the deal!! I aslo have a friend that told me WHAT? No way! Walmart sells then for $40.00. I told her to go ahead, she is not into heirloom type things tho.
