What color border should I use...

Here is a quilt I made with all my turquoise scraps and white and off white scarps.. The quilt is for our king size bed and to make it fit and have a good drop on the sides and top and bottom, I need to add a 8 inch border so that it is big enough.

So what do you think of using a 3 inch white border to frame the quilt or smaller and then a 5 inch or bigger turquoise border for the last border?

I did play around with, maybe the turquoise for the first border and then the white for the last border but I think with the white fabric being the biggest it may look like there is to much white.. I really need another set of eyes on this choice of fabrics... Thanks for your help..

Picture should say from this to this...

I think an inner border of white and an outer one of turquoise would be beautiful. I love your quilt. So fresh and cheerful! Very clever use of scraps!

I'm with Dina, use the white for a narrow inner border then the turquoise for the wider border.

how about a white inner border, then a piano key border with the turquoise scraps? If you don't have enough left, you could grab a few FQs and mix them in.

A white inner border and then the turquoise would look nice. A piano key outer border may look good also after the white border but you would need to try a sample. Lovely top!

I agree that adding piecing into the border would be nice because it would continue the design all the way out to the edge. I thought maybe a triple border would look nice with a thin (1-1.5") white inner border with cornerstones, followed by roughly the same size or a bit larger of the green striped fabric you used & then a much larger border of grey fabric(s) with alternating blue & green squares on point. I know that's more work (sorry!) but your quilt looks so lovely I thought it deserves to be beautiful all the way out to the very edge. :)

that is going to be a great quilt! I'd definitely want to add a pieced border to tie it together.

I agree white narrow border with turquoise as the wide border key pattern sounds good idea. Or

a old Greek key pattern white with the key in turquoise.

Do a small inside border of the white fabric just to make the quilt float and then do either a piano border from your scraps or use a teal that you used for the center of your blocks.
