no beige, no browns....love bright colors, love bright prints on a crisp white background....

Gray and pink.
I have very little purple
I buy black by the bolt, and several bolts of PFD fabric for dying, do not care for red in most of my quilts unless it is just a red and white quilt, can't think of any other colors I do not have, and if I don't have and need it I just go to my play house and dye it, LOL
MSQC had a Coffee colored charm pack or layer cake. I wish I would have bought it when it was the daily deal. But I'm dealing with financial reality right now.

So I have a bunch of fabrics now that I will likely donate someday in the not too distant future. I'd rather donate them as quilts, but I don't see myself ever finding a place for them.
So learn from me. If you think the "holes" in your stash need to be fixed, think twice about the reason the holes exist at all. I have used four bolts of Kona black in 4 years and never used it for backing! Now you are all probably thinking I am doing lots of Halloween quilts. In fact, I haven't made a single one. |
I don't really "stash". I buy as wanted/needed. Project specific.

I guess when I get home from "up north" I will have to check. Have been making blocks out of a bag of "leftovers"while in our RV. Need to check and see if something will tie them together. I usually have to buy whites.
I have fat quarters in ever shade under the sun....way too many fat quarters! Need to find good homes for some of them before they secretly start to multiply. No joke here!!
It is strange, I think I have every color. Then I go to make something and guess what? The color I need is missing. What will I do. I think when I moved I got rid of too much of my stash. (My husband does not think so.) I guess I need something. I know I have loads of reds, greens, blues, etc. but missing what I need.
A few FQ's of gray and that's it. Tons of yellow, pink, green and blues, but very little gray. Started my orange, purple and turquoise last year and it's going good. Even have aqua now, but the grays are lagging behind. Not my favorite color at all. Can't wear it ever, so I guess I ignore it.
I don't have yellow or gray.

Gray, green, brown

Grays and yellows are small in my stash, some blacks too. I tend to keep my collections together so could have more of one of those colors that I don't realize. Plus some of my stash is on bolts so again may have more than I realize.
While looking for a small piece of pink, I realize that I didn't have one piece of any kind of pink....maybe I just hv to buy some....
I used to have tons of blue fabrics but now I have only small pieces for scrap blocks. Also not a lot of pinks and almost no gray tones. I've re-done my stash from keeping all the same colors together to groupings of fabrics that play well together. I figure that way when I see a pattern I would like to try I have a good head start and hopefully will not buy as much.
I have a pretty good quantity of most colors but almost all are prints. Need solids in all colors. Even though I have a good selection I still find the need to shop for fabric to round out the pattern requirements. LOL
Solids here also....
I keep as little purple as I possibly can, because I do not like purple. I have an abundance of nearly every other color, with a strong emphasis on yellows, oranges, and other autumnal colors.
Don't have much gray or purple, and no orange. Just the other day I was thinking about going stash shopping to add some other colors. Then I thought about it again and ended up staying home. ;-)
I was one to never pass up a novelty print. That's what I have the most of in my stash. Always short of creamy, buttery, vanilla pudding backgrounds.
I have most colors in prints and florals but am short on blenders in brown, gray, orange, lime, blue and I'm sure that there are others. It feels that when I am putting something together I am always short on a color.
you can't go to the end of the internet but I think I may have gone to the
end of the rainbow :) |
Browns, tans and orange. I like those colors, but yet I don't seem to buy them, except for a specific project. I'm not a big fan of pastels or red.
missing colors
I have no grays. Diane C.
I'm not missing any colors completely but some have lots more than others. Pink is the one I have the least of. Several of my colors have predominantly focus fabrics. For the past year or so I've been trying to get more blender fabrics so I can actually make something with what I have. Lol!

grey, yellow and brown

I have no pink, but it's not 'missing' from my stash any more than okra and liver are 'missing' from my pantry. I'm quite happy living without any of them.

Not a lot of grey in my stash.

I have every color, but orange, brown and gray are the ones I have the least of. My orange and brown are in my fall stash and the grays just snuck in (mainly as silver).
I lack batiks & tone on tone fabrics. However, I don't miss them much as I find most to be muddy looking to me. I prefer solids to blends unless it is something with a slight pattern of color on white such as Net by Dear Stella(http://www.pinkcastlefabrics.com/col...ts/net-in-mint) or Timeless Treasures Hatch or Fun basics (http://www.abcsofquilting.com/shop/Q...t-x3602015.htm).
I don't have many pastels or Civil War color ways in my stash and don't plan on adding any. As I've mentioned previously, I am a Magpie for large, bright floral or graphic prints. I have an over abundance of those, generally in FQs - they are like crack! I've cut way back on the FQ collecting and am trying to stay in the 1/2 yard range as the smallest cut to stash. |

My basic colors are getting low. Will take advantage of JoAnns sale.

I have very little gray. I'd love to have more. And not much orange, but I'm okay with that.
Very little black mainly because it's hard for me to see my stitching...but I do like it with white or yellow.
Very little red because I don't prewash and I'm afraid of bleeding. Would have a lot more gray except the gray I prefer (think the men's early 1950's grey flannel suits...kind of a very pale gray) simply is never available. Minimal orange because the color is just too intense for me. Never ever had pink "anything" until I started quilting and now one of my favorite colors....still building stash! So, as you can tell, my stash is heaviest in greens, whites, yellows, pinks, corals, light bright turquoise. |
