What colors are "missing" from your stash?

I have very little yellow or gray.

I have lots of blue, red tones (not much "true" red), and greens.

ILoveToQuilt 08-11-2016 04:00 PM

I think I've got them all! I have too much fabric in my stash (is that okay to say here?) LOL

SSStitches 08-11-2016 04:03 PM

I dont have red, black and grey.

ontheriver 08-11-2016 04:17 PM

Browns, and although the it not a color I really don't care for civil war repros

Jane Quilter 08-11-2016 04:27 PM

I love browns.....and I have no gray or much green, but I am taking donations. lol

jmoore 08-11-2016 05:18 PM

Black...for some reason I don't think of black fabric when making purchases but I love it in some patterns as it makes the other colors pop.

lots2do 08-11-2016 05:22 PM

I don't believe I have any lime green (we used to call it poison green back in the day and I had a raincoat that was that color).

wesing 08-11-2016 05:30 PM

We have very little yellow and red, and we're always having to buy black and/or white.

Theodora 08-11-2016 05:40 PM

Pink, can't stand it!

madamekelly 08-11-2016 05:41 PM

Very little brown, yellow, or orange.

tessagin 08-11-2016 05:44 PM

I have a little of everything. just a little.

zozee 08-11-2016 05:51 PM

Not much yellow or grey, so I've been slowly adding those to the mix.

quiltingcandy 08-11-2016 05:59 PM

My stash is mostly left over fabric from quilts so I don't have specific colors. I did notice when I needed brown for a twister quilt I had very little. Most of the fabric I buy for a future project is a theme fabric i.e.: Christmas, Halloween or Kids'. But since I have started so much embroidery I have bought white shirting fabric and black. It seems whenever I need black in a quilt I am just a bit shy or it's spring and very hard to find. So I have now bought several yards to keep on hand.

Mariposa 08-11-2016 06:06 PM

Not much brown, or red.

Have used up grays, black, and white-on-white.....

daisydawg 08-11-2016 06:18 PM

no Browns, either solid or print.

cashs_mom 08-11-2016 06:29 PM

I have very little blue, pink or purple. I have a ton of green and red and quite a bit of black and yellow. Almost no orange.

maryb119 08-11-2016 06:33 PM

Very littel yellow or brown. I don't like yellow and I don't use much brown. Gray is another color I don't have much of.

Jeanne S 08-11-2016 06:52 PM

Not much orange or pink, have just about everything else I think!!

canmitch1971 08-11-2016 07:10 PM

I have no pink or gray or bright red

dunster 08-11-2016 07:17 PM

Whatever I really want at the time is what seems to be missing.

Over the years I've made a conscious effort to keep a full range of colors AND values in my stash. Right now I'm lower on some solids than I'd like - orange, yellow, pinks, blue - because I've been working on modern quilts for myself and for the community quilt program in our guild. Need to look into adding to those colors cheaply.

Pastels....just don't care for them.

I'm with you no pink.

Tiggersmom 08-11-2016 10:44 PM

Purples, they are on my buy list ONLY when I'm making a quilt for some one that is gagga over it.

Just a thought to help you spend money.

justflyingin 08-11-2016 11:48 PM

grey and orange

cathyre 08-12-2016 12:22 AM

I need more grey going to do a quilt for our new car , (back seat) so now have to be on the look out for grey .

Peterswife 08-12-2016 01:10 AM

I definitely need more Greys. I have no turquoise or teal. other than those I'm good.

sahansen44 08-12-2016 03:05 AM

True reds are missing and I like red. Lots of greens, blues, browns. But then, I do love nature colors especially trees/leaves. Also don't do much in the line of pastel quilts.

ctyankee 08-12-2016 03:41 AM

I just had this conversation with one of my daughters. A friend of hers is expecting her first baby in December, & they don't want to know in advance if it's a boy or girl. So my daughter decided to find out what colors & -- you guessed it -- I don't have any grays or yellows. However, I popped into JoAnn's last night, & I now have too many grays!

And I haven't even picked out a pattern yet! The shower is in October. I have to get busy -- soon!

Shelbie 08-12-2016 03:45 AM

I am not a brown fan so had practically nothing in my stash but sometimes you really do need some. Our guild had a sale of one of our member's collections and I bought her whole brown bin! Problem solved.

I had to chuckle a bit at this post after looking at the handle "LavenderBlue". :)

Judi in Ohio 08-12-2016 04:01 AM

I have some of every color, actually a great deal more than some in most.

QuiltingBear 08-12-2016 05:02 AM

Browns and tans, love all other colors so have lots of everything else

ManiacQuilter2 08-12-2016 06:00 AM

No browns.....

TeresaA 08-12-2016 06:43 AM

I had colors missing from my stash (mostly pink). I decided that i should add some of them to my stash to "round it out." What I discovered is that I don't use these hole fixers. So I have a bunch of fabrics now that I will likely donate someday in the not too distant future. I'd rather donate them as quilts, but I don't see myself ever finding a place for them.

So learn from me. If you think the "holes" in your stash need to be fixed, think twice about the reason the holes exist at all.

RedGarnet222 08-12-2016 07:38 AM

I find the most "holes" are the fabric stash I use all the time and have to replace often. I think that when you start a project is when you have to go on a shopping trip, not before just to have it on hand.

That being said, I have a bulging stash out of control because of the fabric store going out of business sales.

NikkiLu 08-12-2016 07:53 AM

My stash was mostly bright, cheerful colors with a lot of pastels also - absolutely no dark colors. So, I inherited my BFF's very large stash when she passed away and there are only dark, drab colors - so now, I have it all. She worked at a quilt shop and was "paid" with fabric but always chose the dark, jewel tones.

silliness 08-12-2016 09:09 AM

Yellow, orange, red, and green.

Altairss 08-12-2016 09:55 AM

Not too much red or brown but I am looking to add those. I really need more solids I seem to have a ton of prints but I have most other colors.
