It's very hard to find a good selection of white on white or cream on cream.

I will be focusing more on solids and blenders - I know not much help am I .....

Nanaquilts44 12-22-2011 05:29 PM

I want to do some white, black and red this year.

daddys jenni 12-22-2011 05:37 PM

You all are helpful, please keep em' coming:)

DebraK 12-22-2011 06:19 PM

Your welcome. I know it's not very exciting, but it is one of the first things I look for wherever I go. I like to keep a good collection on hand. oops, I think I put this post on the wrong spot. I was the one who mentioned white on white ;-)

Sunnie 12-22-2011 06:31 PM

I'm going to be looking for some darker, but not dark, primary colors. I have some butterscotch that I want to pair with some "country" colors for some antique classic look quilts. I'm not too crazy about the real wild brights with big patterns. Hope this helps.

daddys jenni 12-22-2011 06:55 PM

All opinions count:)

Hi there- Wishing you all the best with your shop - hope you will be selling online too. Either way I am always keeping my eye open for white on white or beige on white, etc. Also traditional patterns as well as new ones. I like it when I go into a shop it has changed with the seasons ! Like spring to summer to fall to winter with quilts that follow. It doesn't have to be new fabrics because we all have some stash but new is good too. Carrying things that blend from one season to another would be beneficial to you for sales reasons. I love thirties too. Solids and blenders too. Notions that you can vouch for. What is tried and true sells believe me I take your word for it. Love Red Rooster and Thimbleberrries !
Where did you get the name and is there a logo with a Quilted Cow ? I am a dairy girl !

Up North 12-22-2011 07:15 PM

I can never find greys and browns that is what I would look for.

dunster 12-22-2011 08:10 PM

For some reason I'm just now getting interested in 30's fabrics. And I may try to get some civil war fabrics for a DJ. But batiks are always popular. And like the others said, be sure to keep a good selection of neutrals, and not just WOW.

raptureready 12-22-2011 08:42 PM

You can't go wrong with brights, blenders, batiks, and stonehenge fabrics. But there are just as many quilters that still love the country colors.

DawnMarie 12-22-2011 09:18 PM

Variety of yellows. Yellows are so hard to find.

BMP 12-23-2011 01:08 AM

I WANT some PASTELS...nice soft colors....peaches especially !!!

annesthreads 12-23-2011 03:49 AM

I was just thinking this morning that I've never made a purple quilt, yet purple is my favourite colour. May have to remedy that next year...

jljquilter 12-23-2011 03:51 AM

Yellows. Pretty yellows bright and happy.

Sandygirl 12-23-2011 04:20 AM

Are you a new shop? Just curious.
sandy

littlesurfer 12-23-2011 04:41 AM

Batiks, white on white, cream on cream.

Jackie Spencer 12-23-2011 04:58 AM

I love the marbles, they are great for back grounds, sashings and borders and applique.

sweet 12-23-2011 05:00 AM

I always look for greys and golds. They seem to be in a minority in my area.

ranger 12-23-2011 05:06 AM

I agree...good quality white on white are my 'always looking for' fabrics. Also blenders.

Are you going to be selling online? If you are, then I'd appreciate knowing your website address.

xsquilter 12-23-2011 05:11 AM

I would agree with the white on white, creams, off-whites. I also keep my eye open for shades of grey. Subtle designs, perhaps grey on grey designs. Oh yes, nice yellows too!

Good to know you have a shop...hope you will have on line services. You're a little far away for my daily/weekly needs. I like the suggestions so far. I love it when fabrics are in groups. I made a beautiful quilt which I sold earlier this year from a grouping I had purchased a few years ago..."Vienna Nights"...I think it was Moda, but not sure. Searched all over for more, but to no avail....anyway it was small prints in blacks, deep reds, beige, and a little light turquoise thrown into some of the prints. The grouping had about 8 differnt pieces of coordinating fabrics...this is what I really like.
I will ask you one question tho...I purchased a piece of "cutesy" Christmas fabric but could only find 2 yards of it. Would like to have 1-2 more yards. It's "coyote choir" by Alexander Henry. I have tried to google it, but no success. If you come across it, could you let me know?
Good luck with your shop and I'll be watching for the web site.

Millstream Mom 12-23-2011 05:14 AM

Earthy tones (for 'Primitive" type wall hangings) - I espec love the Kansas Troubles line
Blues soft yellows soft tans

Civil War - (have a Dear Jane attempt planned for 2012,2013,2014........)

:)

coldquilter 12-23-2011 05:41 AM

Jenni- A few weeks ago there was a post on here about some new upcoming fabric called something like BFF line or something like that. There were photos and I thought it was just fabulous. I don't live near your shop but I think it will be a popular line with the people that I know. Good luck.

DebraK 12-23-2011 07:16 AM

oh, I second this!

TanyaL 12-23-2011 07:26 AM

I am always searching for burgandies that do not have ANY brown in their color - a true burgandy. Almost all of the ones I find lean toward brown or purple. I would buy solids, blenders, prints - I'm desperate.

Krisb 12-23-2011 08:10 AM

White on white, cream on cream, batiks, marbled blenders, true golds, greens that have more blue than yellow, silvers and greys have been most difficult for me to find lately.

Marcia_PA 12-23-2011 08:37 AM

This isn't a color, but for me border fabrics hard to find--the kind you might use for a 60 degree table runner or in a quilt border.

fmhall2 12-23-2011 08:39 AM

I agree - white on white and cream on cream are hard to find.

Mazda 12-23-2011 09:10 AM

Turquoise and brown are the colors that I am drawn to.

Favorite Fabrics 12-23-2011 09:14 AM

Here is a link to the BFF (Best Friends Forever) fabrics... they are not coming until May (if they are on time) but we have them available for pre-order now.

They're very different than anything else I have ever seen... and the sales rep said that they were very well-received at Quilt Market last fall.

Wilmington Prints, South Sea Imports, RJR, and Timeless Treasures are the companies that seem to be making the most border prints these days.

I've always wanted to make one of those runners - I even have the ruler - but somehow I just never got around to trying it out!

DebraK 12-23-2011 09:21 AM

What a helpful tip. Thanks!

0tis 12-23-2011 10:48 AM

I am really loving the patriotic colors and patterns and I am really loving the civil war colors and patterns - but I cannot pass up any moda pre-cut (maybe a few) - I love how the pre-cuts are coordinated and when I make quilts with them - I always get compliments about how well the colors worked (my secret). Good luck and if you are online let us know.

Annaquilts 12-23-2011 10:51 AM

true red
purple
brights
none feminine/gender neutral
tone on tone/blenders
pretty or fun lines of fabric

Grace creates 12-23-2011 11:29 AM

I agree a good collection of white on white or off white is always much needed. I like brights, batiks including really light ones and very dark ones. Samples of quilts made with the fabric's always create a really good mood in a shop, and add inspiration to the customers.

Grandma58 12-23-2011 11:38 AM

I agree, I recently went to 4 shops looking for the right whitish cream, none of them really had it. Oh and any time I see that nice soft yellow I buys yards and yards of it.
