What could you make out of this fabric?
 

Any ideas what to make from this fabric? I thought of cutting out the squares for gift tags but some are larger than a gift tag

I suppose I would fussy cut all of them and have them on hand for labels. The larger ones being used to cross stitch a sentence or two for the recipient of the quilt.

You can frame a stitched message and hang it up at holiday time.

You can use some of the larger ones as the side of a gift bag.

They are made for making quilt labels.

You could do mug rugs or potholders with them if you don't have a need for so many labels.

Add a persona l embroidered message and make mug rugs or a tiny wall display for the Christmas season.

I have had some really difficult fabric to use. I just cut it into strips and use it for bindings. My charity group has its own labels.

Agree, this fabric typically is for labels and you have received some ideas for other uses already.

The fabric is basically reads as Christmas, from what I can see (the colours plus the holly!)

One idea may be to add Christmas thoughts, sayings, quotes, and such in the white space. These could be done in machine or hand embroidery or permanent marker. Then with some Christmas coordinating fabrics create an interesting scrappy-style arrangement for a quilt.

Another idea might be to have everyone attending Christmas dinner complete a block with a permanent marker or in pencil for embroidery later. Then assemble it into a quilt later. Be sure to keep at least one block for the label(s) and any other important info you want noted. A fun thing to bring out every Christmas for the family and it just may become a treasured family heirloom.

Or perhaps ... the same could be done at a Guild Christmas party?

They are certainly designed to be quilt labels, but that doesn't mean you have to use them for that purpose. I would probably get a background fabric with a little bit of shimmer like Robert Kaufman's Radiance fabric in Ivory and then maybe quilt with a holographic thread like Superior #111 (http://www.superiorthreads.com/shop/...ystal-400-yds/) or even a silver metallic like their #000 (https://www.superiorthreads.com/shop...ilver-500-yds/).

Because I love applique so much, I'd probably just cut with a 1/4" seam allowance all the way around & use the different pieces/elements as appliques. However, I could just as easily see piecing the squares if you can find a layout that works -- maybe the largest squares in the center -- or possibly 4 circles with enough beige around them to turn into a square. All the open space in the center of the "labels" would make the perfect canvas for beautiful holiday quilting!
