That would be great!!

I don't use fat quarters. I would rather have yardage.

My hat pincushion and other pincushions.

I just made a quilt top with parts of 16 fat quarters from a pattern on the internet. When the quilt is finished I will post pics. Until then, here is a link to the pattern--it was quick and fun and mine will be a charity quilt.

I'm on my second one now. (pictures below) The first one is called 'Go With The Flow'. And the second one is my current project, 'Crayon Box'. Both have been made strictly with fat quarters from my stash. Sorry about the lighting, my gd took the pictures.

will do a Turning Twenty soon. wickedly easy top |
Anna Quilts - you made some really interesting quilts. I especially like the one with Australian fabs. It's unique!
|
OK! I admit it. I am a fatquarteraholic. So far I have collected more than I have used. I have made totes, purses, table runners.
|
Cheaper by the Dozen pattern....easy rectangles and uses 12 different fat quarters plus two borders.

So many good ideas! I appreciate your pictures. They are inspirational.

Thanks for sharing. |
I'm taking a class on the 19th for a Autumn Braid quilt. I'm using 16 FQ in it.
|
I use them for applique, fill-ins for some of my scrappy projects, and small projects like purses and pin cushions.
|
Just about anything and everything I can think of... My most fave's are the Yellow brick road pattern for Fat quarters.
|
I'm also more biased in favor of yardage, but I've used FQs for making luggage tags (it's been awhile, but I think I got 2 out of each FQ) and I've just collected a bunch in my sewing room's new colors to make sampler wall hangings.
|
I'm very ashamed reading about the FQ's. My LQS puts them on sale quite often for $1.75 or $1.50 and I buy but have never cut into one. I would rather by yardage but don't like cutting into that either. I think I am becoming a fabric horder. I have alot of jeans and have many already cut in squares. After reading all your great ideas I'm going to get them out and make my son a jeans quilt for Christmas. I think he would love it.

Thanks for posting the FQ query.
This link provides really good ideas for those of us who are participating in Carsey's International Fabric Swap! |

giggle giggle. That's me too  |
I made the Shoecat and Shoedog blocks for recent swaps out of them. ...and the dresses for the dancing mice for another swap were made out of them too, and it still did not use up very many. Jeannie

How do you cut a DP4? Am I right to assume it would be on the diagonial?

Well, the top anyway! :) |
Bags, totes and purses. Wallets, needle cases.
|
Annaquilts, your quilts are outstanding!
|
I make everything pretty much. As I like a variety of fabrics, if I see a pattern for a quilt and it has red blocks from one fabric I simply use a variety of red fatquarters to achieve a similar but more varied look.

Can you please tell me what a dissappearing 9 patch is.
I guess I'v never seen one and I can't imagine what it is. thanks. twilight. |
Twilight,
Basically you make a nine patch block and cut it in the middle right across horizontally(through your second row of squares) and then, don't move anything yet, cut it through the middle vertically. Then you can switch the pieces around to get some interesting patterns. If you put disappearing 9 patch into the search function on the top of your board screen, you'll be able to find many different examples. Some people find them very addicting to make and they can be very attractive and/or fun. |
Oh, and there are tutorials here too that lead you through the process much better than I did (with pictures, too)!
|
No problem. DS, then 9, wanted a snake quilt. It is perfect for him. LOL |
