I have been making Christmas ornaments. http://quilting.about.com/od/holiday...ric-star_6.htm

Sounds like most of us use them for scrappy quilts or iron them open for strip sewing--keep at it ladies. Who can afford todays fabric prices--use it all!
I wind mine on empty toilet paper rolls, and tape the end down. Neat, and no tangles to undo later. You can flatten the rolls to take up less space.
I save mine for scrappy quilts, I have a tub of them.
When you've collected quite a few make a 1600 quilt. The one made with 2 1/2" strips.
If they are big/long enough I have ironed them out flat and used them as part of a block/extension on the back of a quilt when I don't have enough fabric to finish a backing. It almost always adds an interesting and fun touch to the quilt.
A string quilt. Do not forget to use a background fabric to sew these to, especially if the binding was cut on the bias.
i have several binding pieces that i keep in a canning jar. one day i will make a scrappy quilt and use all the different bindings for it.

I use them for rug mugs or potholders
