Those are large ones. What about quartering some of them? You'd get two smaller HST's and two small solid blocks. Then play around with arrangements of both the large blocks and the small ones to form a new design. Could be lots of fun!

Here is what I've come up for the Carpenter's Star. What do you think?

Using Bonnie Hunter's method to get bonus HST's, I now have 44 5" HST's and 30 4" HST's leftover from the making of the quilt in this picture.
Does anybody know of any patterns that use HST's? or have any idea of what pattern to do with them? I'm thinking probably lap size... |
You could always use them to do a border on another scrapy quilt/table runner.

I try to incorperate into the border of the quilt , since they already have coordinated fabrics.

Any inspiration from the different lay outs for log cabins? Love the soft colours in the quilt.

Some people have asked for the name of the original quilt...
The original quilt was made from a pattern called Stars Over the Prairie and was in a book called By Request put out by Gathering Friends. It was very fun and easy to make and used up a LOT of scraps! |
