Nana...if you'd post a picture people here could give you all kinds of great ideas on how to "change it" to fit the recipient better...with less work than you'd think!

I agree we need to see a picture:D
It cannot possibly be so bad that you can't share it with us:D

Finish it and if you still do not like it, donate.

Finish it and gift it as planned. They will love it

I would finish it, a lot of times we get used to seeing what we are working on and get tired of it then we don't like it. Finish it and I bet it will be a lovely quilt for someone.

I would say: Finish it, put it away for a few days and then decide if you still don't like it enough to gift it. Unless you are truly pressed for time, putting it away out of sight for a few days may change your mind. Hope this helps

You say....It is not me, But it is them.
How about show them a picture or just let it go. I have found I am way too hard on myself when it comes to the same dilema.
Peace

Unless it is cost prohibitive, let one of the talented LAQers on this board work their magic. The transformation could make it a thing of true beauty.

How about using the quilt as the back and making a top you are happier with? That way it is the best of both worlds. A pattern you like and the colors (on the back) that they like. JMHO...good luck!
