Could they be used for backing fabric or at least parts of them. If you are really not interested in them, donate them to a church quilting group - am sure they could use them.

I would try to use the long strips of borders in the fabric as fabric in my new quilt. There is some beautiful stuff there, but nothing says you have to use it like it is.

I don't really like them either so I would not want to work with them. I would either trade them with another quilter for something I liked better, or donate them to a thrift shop. Someone who can't afford expensive fabrics will be thrilled to find them.
It's just not fun to sew with fabrics that don't inspire you. |
If the pieces are big enough, I might save them for a quilt back. I might also use them to try a new pattern like Triangle Frenzy table runner ( since you have kind of a border print in the one) Or maybe the fold and stitch wreath/candle mat from Poorhouse designs.

Don't feel obligated. Your friend obviously was not interested In them which is why she passed them along. You could make some into practice FMQ sandwiches and donate the rest.

Pass it on to someone who loves it and work on what you love!
