Barb, this could have been written by me. I think I will never get the process to perfection. In many ways I think I am a beginner and I have quilted for over fifty years. Like you, the process is what I like. Sometimes hating to finish a quilt because of it. I love to hand quilt and have to continually work on my techniques. Thanks for your comments.

I don't believe in the tooth fairy but I have met the quilt police, they're real and they're not very nice!

I never wash fabric that is not dirty.
I only unplug the machine if a storm is coming. (the owner's manual says to do it daily)
I do not even know what bias is, and do not worry about it.
I use the same size needle for EVERYTHING.

I don't read the directions as well as I should. I scan them. Then I have BIG PROBLEMS!!!

I always finish bindings by hand, not to follow rules, but because a few hours of hand sewing is therapy for me.

I sometimes "recolor" faded fabrics with sharpies. (Light bulbs can really strip color from darker fabrics, so be careful where you display your quilts).

Anita

I don't remember which quilt show, but this gal pieced a quilt of similar colored fabric. When she was completely done she used the good kind of dye and in this case, dyed the whole thing a pink. Her original colors were pink, yellows, oranges, off whites-------maybe even red. Looked great.

I get stuff from everywhere------------One of these days I'm going to try that using my "not quite color co-coordinating" scraps. I do have plenty of yellows and oranges that I'll never be able to match any other way

I never thread ends in just use sewing machine button. I don't panic if joins don't match completely.
And many more. But I love doing them.

I do what ever it takes to complete a quilt. Became quite fond of glue basting my binding on. I use a lot of startch so I usually wash the quilt before I give it away.

Most of the time I will let myself off the hook if a seam gets sewn down in the wrong direction. It always annoys me, but not enough to fix it.

I don't follow patterns to the letter and when I organize in front of me, I have discord behind me. Then stuff the discord under the bed, in the closet or laundry basket and disguise with a piece of cloth to cover. I pretty much do it (whatever it is) my way. AND if they get through the door they can leave by the same door and not let it them in the rear on the way out.
