What to do, what to do???

I need help!
I have two fabrics that I've been sitting on for years, the plaid is flannel (3.5 yds), the teal blue is a very fine wale, lightweight corduroy (2.5 yds). It wouldn't let me post a pic?? I've planned on making some sort of lap quilt/comforter but am stuck with my wheels spinning. Any ideas? I'm open to anything but I do *not* want to add anymore fabrics, unless it's as a backing. I'm ok with piecing something. I'm also ok with doing the flannel on one side and the cord on the other. Important to note: I refuse to machine quilt. I will be knotting. Or will hand quilting with a huge stitch work? See? Baffled. Thank you!!! |
When I see this I see a rag quilt. the colors are so warm and cozy. Just something to snuggle under and not come out from under till Spring is here.

Rag quilt is the first thing I thought of too. Beautiful colors.

Rag quilt. Easy, and you would not need to buy any additional fabric. :)

I'm not sure if the corduroy will rag. That would be worth a test.
How about a basic 2-patch, alternating squares of each fabric? They play so nicely together AND the piecing would be very basic. |
I was wondering if the corduroy would rag also, but I found some websites that mention using it in rag quilts with no problem. Here's one, but there are others: http://www.minneapolismqg.com/2012/0...-corduroy.html

My first thought was a darling vest! They are back in style and these colors would be perfect to wear. If that is too much garment sewing, a long neck scarf would be nice too to wear with your levis.

I have made rag quilts with flannel and corduroy, and the corduroy does rag - beautifully! This is what I would suggest too. I make my rag quilts with 3 layers of flannel, mixing in corduroy on top, and no batting. No need to sew an X through the squares since all the layers are caught in the piecing.

Love your fabrics. Whatever you do it will turn out to be beautiful. Be sure to show us.

Have you looked at Pinterest? I can usually find lots of inspiration there and sometimes I just create my own pattern after looking at all the pictures. Your fabrics are so pretty and cozy looking that whatever you decide will be great.
