I've used it in rag quilts, mixed in with flannel. It gives a nice change in texture.

One of my students used it as a 1" (cut 11/2") as a narrow sashing for large blocks. Looked Great! without adding alot of weight.

I finished a quilt for my youngest son that I had made using fine wale corduroy as the border and sashings. One piece was solid navy for sashing and 3 inch inner border, and then I found a "plaid" corduroy that I put on bias for the larger border. Was not that heavy and really made the quilt. Used lightweight plaid flannel for backing. Washed the corduroy several times in vinegar to set dye and soften before sewing.

My very first quilt I made was from all the left over codoroy scraps from all of the garments I had made. That quilt was loved to death, it survived me growing up and my granddaughter later. Then the dog enjoyed it for a bed. Lots of good memories in that quilt.

I've used it on backs of lap quilts for the nursing home. I bought a strip quilt top at a club swap & shop that is corduroy. I plan to put fleece on the back and donate it.

(I think EVERYTHING that is washable should be washed before it's cut - I also know that there are others that think washing before cutting is a total waste of time)

My first quilt was a cordoroy oversized log cabin. The only problem is that the fabric frays more than regular cotton so large seams are important.. Next time I would even double seam/stitch them for security...afterall 30 years later when it was fraying I regretted not dong that initially. This one was VERY warm so great for North Dakota or Hudson Bay, terrible for Boston.

Every now and then I get rid of more fabrics that I call garment fabrics. I've just about gotten rid of most of it by bringing it to Goodwill and various charity garage sales. Last summer I came across a box that I evidently was Hoarding for a rainy day. I found corduroys and poly-suede looking fabric that I used in the "Stretch and Sew" days. I was thinking that I might try a couple of bags (Bow Tuck, etc.). I've been gathering patterns for quite a while now and still haven't branched out with the bags. I have colors that could be mixed and matched.

I make 'Seat Sacks' with them...nice and sturdy. Seat Sacks are hung over the back of the student desk for the student to put extra supplies into. They are nifty items for the lower grades.

I would make pillows or bags. But wash it first- it usually shrinks.
