I use a chop stick and a small craft iron on little pieces.

My little Clover mini iron works great. Haven't burned my fingers yet.

I rarely burn my fingers. I have longish nails most of the time and that helps. I also use my seam ripper as a stiletto or a chop stick. What I tend to burn is my stomach (yeah, I know, don't sew naked--TMI) and my hands (used when I run out of board under the fabric). Will I ever learn??

I use a stiletto (in my case, an old knitting needle) to pin the corner down:

Sounds like a good idea!

I have an ironing glove. Saw it demonstrated on a Fons & Porter program. Ordered it on ebay -- $13.00. Hairdressers use them also when using curling irons. They work great.
