What do you do . . .

When a quilt you've worked so hard on to be precise turns out to be anything but? I'm sewing my pieced blocks together and nothing is matching:( Will anyone notice? Probably not but I know it's not right. Feeling very frustrated tonight.

I put it away and let my brain breath.......it may be a day, a week, or however long it takes for me to get over my frustration.

I say, just put it in time out for a while. Eat some chocolate, have a hot bath and a glass of wine.

Sometimes you need a time out and try again when you are fresh the next day. Try pinning where they need to match and ease the extra fabric in. The feed dog side always ease in a little more fabric or you can encourage the extra fabric on top towards the needle with a pin as you sew. Take heart and know we have all been there.

I've had a couple that fought me the while time I was piecing. Usually when I struggle with this it's cause I've gotten lazy and don't square up the parts of the block as I go along. Know it's so frustrating--I usually just get it finished as best I can and then quilt--figure it's still functional even if not the beauty I hoped for--and everyone else thinks they are fabulous, so...

Glad to see this topic. Happens to me on a regular basis. I mostly do what has been suggested so far and usually (unless cutting off points is involved) once it is quilted and washed it usually looks pretty good.

That's how I end up with UFO's. Glad you took time out, sometimes that's all it takes. The hard part is figuring out why. Was it cutting, sewing, pressing or squaring? For me it can be all of them.
