THROW 'EM OUT! Edie
|
Wonder what Eleanor Burns does with all those pieces she tosses behind her and states...."get rid if it"
|
I used to save them, but since I started doing Konmari, I throw them out.
|
I dutifully saved them as well, following the advise on here to make pet beds. We had just gotten a puppy and so I happily began stuffing a pillowcase full of snipits and thread. Once it was full, I zipped it up and presented it to the pup. He did enjoy it until one fateful day when we were gone all day. I returned to find the pillowcase tore up and the contents all over the yard. There was quilt confetti over everything and inch deep. Try cleaning that up. And so now, I simply Toss the scraps with no guilt whatsoever!

years ago I saw a tip about having an empty tissue box next to the machine for tiny scraps. make the opening a bit bigger to throw them in - but it keeps things neat. Later I use them for anything small that needs a poof - ornaments, toys, the center of a flower or any other place that could use a bit of dimension (that will not need to be sewn thru). If the box gets full (sometimes in the summer when I have no need for ornament stuffing), I will start a second box. But because they are a good shape, they stack easily on each other - and they don't look as messy as a scrap bag!

I just chunk em

I make pet beds. I usually keep a fabric bag clipped to the end of my cutting table and another one hanging next to my sewing machine. When the bag is full I sew it up. I use fabric that I have that was one of those purchases where I now say "what was I thinking."

As my alias is "1000scraps" I can't throw away anything.... I'm makig "new" fabric out of the tiny little stripes!
New fabric! And I use it for little pouches: I like to play with colors and I love the rainbow scheme! |
I made some pillows out of the "lint" from my wastebasket. (I use anything bigger than 1/2 inch for making crumb quilts.) I had them in the living room ready to give to the cat shelter in town. I needed something one day to prop up a leg, so used one of them. It was sooooo comfy! Now I have one in the car, two on my couch, and one on my front porch on my reading bench. They are really nice and soft and pliable.
I've made many for the cats, and I'll make more later, but these are mine. |
