I agree with cutting all of the pieces out and ready to go. It makes it easier to sit down and do it. Lately I have had to force myself to finish one project before I start another. It is HARD to do but seems to help. Good Luck!!

Nana, If I had to get all of that in place before I began working on my projects, I would never get to them. Although when my kids were growing up I did manage to get all of that done (not all at once though) -- there was always food on the table at mealtimes, clean laundry, etc. But now that the nest is empty, I seem to putter around more and more -- going in circles. So I just get to my sewing when I can and don't worry about much more. When something really needs to be done, I do it best I can. Priorities change over the years.

I cut it all and then work on multiple ones at once. There's a charm quilt I don't want to do, so I sew a chain of puzzle quilts (makes me say :-D ) then, without stopping, I sew a chain of hour glasses, then, without stopping, I sew a chain of D9P. So I try to work on them in stages, so doing one block per day would never get done for me. My goal would be adding one piece x every block per day

that's what I do too. Sometimes I have to force myself to do it, and then I'm really glad when it's done.

I don't think it would be much fun (for me)to make one project, finish it before I could start another. I would get bored. I have two hand projects going now. I work on these when we are watching TV. One is a mini-whole cloth that I am quilting and the other is a lap quilt that I am piecing. I have another machine pieced top ready to be sandwiched and quilted. I am fortunate that I have a sewing room upstairs and I can leave things out. I have my ipod in a dock and when I get tired of sitting at my machine, I can dance around to keep from getting stiff. I want to learn to do some FMQ so yesterday I pieced a small 18" wall hanging to practice on. That's the beauty of having a stash of fabric, you can always find something to work on.

He has good taste...and with your quilting...good teamwork!

My king quilt project has been in a bag with fabric and pattern for over a year....now I am finally working on it. It's an uneven log cabin pattern in one of my magazines, and I do want to get it done. There have been so many other projects come up, I have had to delay it. Now I am finally working on it....and I am really thrilled. I WANT to do this quilt...I REALLY DO!!!
