I don't buy them now, but I have a couple from when I first started quilting and did not have a stash. I use them in baby quilts---one charm pack and lots of white or solid sashing is enough for a baby quilt.

Oh, Stop everyone!!!! You keep sending out more ideas and don't have but 24 hours a day. Thanks for all the good suggestions for charm packs. Don't buy many myself but I am pretty good with a ruler and rotary cutter to may my own 5" squares!
When in doubt.....half square triangles! So many things to do with them! (Never enough time!) |
I second the disappearing 9 patch using a contrasting blender to make a larger quilt.

Check out MSQ also, Jenny loves charm packs I get many of my ideas from her youtube tutorials

loisf, that is the cutest baby quilt, I may have to make that for the next baby quilt. Love the prairie points in the quilt. Babies love to grip.

I have a few charm packs, I buy them when I love a whole line, but can only afford the charm pack. I can never seem to break them open! They're not enough to use in a whole quilt, and to put them into a scrap quilt seems wasteful, cuz I have plenty of regular scraps. Plus they're so darn cute all piled up in my cabinet! What to do??!??! What do you do?

I have the same question in that I just bought the Gooseberry charm pack from Missouri Star Quilt Co. Couldn't resist -- it was on sale! But there are just too many possibilities! Looking at all of them, as on the google site, just makes it worse for me - decisions, decisions! So I put them away "for now" (famous last words).

I mix them with white and make pretty Disappearing 9 Patch quilts... or Falling Charms. Those are always nice.

I apologize in advance to whomever that made this and posted it here on the board. But, this was a terrific idea and I saved the picture and didn't edit to show their name.

RedGarnet, that is exactly the kind of idea I was looking for! Thank you for taking the time to dig up the picture and share. Thank you to everyone of course, and to the quilter who made the above quilt. Last night I bought six yards of Kona Steel on Amazon, will go beautifully with my most coveted Alison Glass charm pack, kismet!
