They are great for tote bags, table runners, and small projects. There are many books with patterns using them.

Moda bakeshop has tons of "recipes" for their cut goods. Just click Charm packs on the right, for LOTS of free patterns. |
They make a great D4 or D9P and you get to use them all.

I usually buy at least two charm packs that are the same fabrics. Then there are many things I can do with them. I had about 4 of them recently and was not all that crazy about many of the fabrics. I cut them into fourths and added white sashing and made a quilt, turned out really nice. I look at patterns and see what I can do with the charm squares and its amazing what I can make, but generally not with just one pack. I also would make the scrap quilts, cut them up really quickly and use them.

I get 4 5" Dresden Plates from 1 Charm Packs. I love them.With 4 charm packs I can get a whole quilt.

I like Toverly's suggestion. Combine a pack with muslin, make half square triangles and you double the amount of squares in your charm pack.

i like making scrappy pinwheels

The mini charm packs give me lots of fabric choices for EPP and applique. I'm hoping to find a nice pack that I can order for my Calico Gardens quilt (ughhh! so many teeny tiny pieces, but it's soooo pretty!).

Jenny Doan has a neat way of using charm packs for cathedral windows. I think you get view the tutorial through Crafty, you tube, and MSQ.
