I have done that too with scraps less than an inch wide. I make tote bags, hot pads, table runners and purses.

When my scrap bin get to overflowing I take it to my next workshop or class and dump it on a back table for everyone to pick through. I'll never use up all my scraps so I don't keep a bin full just to sit there waiting for me.

Mine go into a bag or three to be used for leaders and enders; pincushions; thread catchers; test stitching and tension testing. If they are big enough to make a tote, they don't get into the scrap bag.

It depends on the size. The really small pieces and slivers, I give to a lady at the sewing machine store where we meet to quilt and she uses them to stuff dog beds that she donates to the animal shelter. I even include the small bits of batting also. She says there is no piece to big or to small.

Hi!
Some ladies use them to make mug rugs or hot pads with insulbright batting to prevent burns.

I have stuffed pet beds with them. I knew a quilt teacher that crochets with them.

I use up most of mine making scrap quilts but I have used them to stuff my grandchildren's stuffed animals when they have come apart. I also make up some Christmas bulbs with them. I buy the clear plastic bulbs as I have 7 small grandchildren and don't want someone to get cut if a bulb falls. I fill them with tiny scraps of fabric. Neat with red white, and blue for 4th of July. I have the tooth brush for making rugs and want to try it also.

Is there a pattern for those?

I would love to buy any scraps between 2 to 21/2 in. wide and 6 to 8 in. long for scrap quilts. I am on soc sec and have a limited budget on fabric not to mention there's no Jo ann fabric store here in Hawaii with sales. Fabric to me is like gold! Our time is so far behind the mainland I can never get free scraps and pay for postage. It's always gone before I get up. I am 5-6 hours behnd central and eastern time. Mahalo for thinking of me when your scrap pile gets in your way or starts to grow.
