Thank you ahead for everyones input... Using the blue for border and plan to use the off white for binding..

I like it, Thumbs up 0;-)

kubby343434 03-17-2013 06:12 AM

love it........

Briarberry 03-17-2013 06:14 AM

I think it's a perfect quilt for a little boy.

bigredharley 03-17-2013 06:17 AM

I really DO Like it.

Lisa_wanna_b_quilter 03-17-2013 06:31 AM

It's going to be a wonderful quilt. My only suggestion is to either add another bright colored block above the center block to make a bright diamond or to move the red block up one space to make a bright colored center row. No matter what your final layout is, I'm betting it will be a loved quilt.

mighty 03-17-2013 07:10 AM

I really like it!!

Aria 03-17-2013 07:25 AM

I wouldn't use white for the binding, as the edges seem to get dirty more quickly. Try the red or yellow. They'll really stand out and "frame" it. That's a great baby boy quilt. I'm getting a new grandson next month and am busily making all kinds of receiving blankets and buntings. Also made a minky quilt out of left overs my friend gave me. The only thing I don't like about it, is I didn't have any blue to put in it. BUT, it's soooo soft and cuddly! :)

i really like it. that said, i'm a 'balanced' person. so i would change the block above the center triangle to your yellow/red combo.

dahlshouse 03-17-2013 08:38 AM

This is the idea I have been playing with... moving up the red one and making another of the plain ones for below..

Yes, I think this is what I will do... Lisa above also suggested this and it is what I have been tossing around..

You are right... didn't think about how dirty it could get... I'll have to find some more red or yellow as you have suggested.. The back will be a med green flannel..
Have fun making your baby things,... I can't seem to keep up.. made one in Jan for granddaughter, this one for nephews boy due April, and a nieces girl due in May.

Looks great!

Christine- 03-17-2013 10:35 AM

I love it! I woudn't change a thing.

nannyrick 03-17-2013 10:36 AM

Verrry nice!!! Great job.

Tartan 03-17-2013 10:38 AM

I really like it! The only thing I might change are the 4 patch blocks (the ones with the 2 large squares and 4 patches) so that all the small bright squares go to the center.

cowgirlquilter 03-17-2013 10:48 AM

Love it!!!!

ArtsyOne 03-17-2013 12:25 PM

I like your color combo, but I wouldn't use a lot of white. You know how babies leak. I would also change the block above the center to a red one to balance the center out, and the 2nd block from the right in the second row is somehow not turned correctly. It's going to be a cute quilt when done - don't forget to post it again.

If you are expecting this to get used, you might reconsider white binding. Try auditioning a narrow red (1") to stop the quilt from running into the border. Then a blue border and bind with blue.

Very cute quilt for a little!
peace

It looks great!

Sarah in Brooklyn 03-17-2013 04:51 PM

It's adorable!!

piepatch 03-18-2013 03:05 AM

Perfect for a boy

twinkie 03-18-2013 03:21 AM

I know they will love it, however I do agree with Aria about the binding.

Pieces2 03-18-2013 05:08 AM

Cute quilt, but I would use the blue for the binding as well. The binding gets a lot of wear, white may not hold up. :)

grandme26 03-18-2013 05:09 AM

Love it. My maid is expecting and I am looking at possibilities for her.

mariolkapolka 03-18-2013 05:10 AM

I like it but instead blue border I would put background/off white and bind it with blue, but this is just a suggestion. Nice quilt:)

Tink's Mom 03-18-2013 05:11 AM

looks good to me!

clsurz 03-18-2013 05:14 AM

Very pretty. :thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

MimiBug123 03-18-2013 05:38 AM

I'd trade places with the red one and the one below it and bind it with red. I think that would make it really pop. it's going to be a really pretty quilt!

nananurse 03-18-2013 07:46 AM

I agree with QuiltnNan about the blocks and Aria with the binding.

My only suggestion was to be about the white binding but I see you've already had a change of heart. I'm chomping at the bit to get started on a baby quilt for our new grandchild coming in September. Just waiting for the word on whether it's a girl or boy!

Auntie Em 03-18-2013 04:35 PM

Perfect for a baby boy!!!!

KnitnutBZ 03-18-2013 05:44 PM

How about using red for the binding.? A white binding on a baby quilt will really get the use and show dirt and stains pretty quick

nstitches4u 03-18-2013 08:40 PM

Very cute! Perfect for a little boy.

Debbie C 03-19-2013 03:54 AM

I love your blocks and color choices, but to my eye and IMHO, I think it's a bit 'color heavy' on the outside. Or perhaps it needs a bit more of that beautiful vibrant red toward the center. Again, this is just my most humble opinion and personal preference.

SandySews 03-19-2013 05:14 AM

Great looking quilt. I'm sure it will be a treasure for a little boy.

Iraxy 03-19-2013 06:13 AM

Agree with this post. Nice quilt though!

try arrange the small 4 patches so the white is in the center of each one, I think it may make the block pop instead of fade into the adjoining block. this is a cute top!

This was what I would suggest also to bring some balance to the quilt. Otherwise great job.

QandE2010 03-19-2013 11:15 AM

Oh, a boy would/will love this quilt. I definitely want to see it finished.
