I don't prewash and have never had a problem. I did wash indigo blue fabrics that I was using in a blue and white only quilt. I washed the fabrics in Retayne. I do throw the color grabber sheets in when I wash the quilt the first time. I like sewing with the sizing.

I put it in my stash this way. Then when ready to use, I do starch it, which is something that I've recently started doing with piecing, but not with my applique (a little too stiff for me to manipulate).

I also pre-wash ALL my fabric as soon as possible. That way I know what will bleed right away and I can fix it before I use the fabric. I press the fabric when slightly damp with a dry iron to get rid of wrinkles and starch before using it.

I didn't think of this as a prewash vs non prewash question. More of a "should I prewash a kit" question. Totally different.
