I have used quite a lot of CT fabrics and never had a problem of fading, running or shrinking. I do not prewash.

I don't prewash. I like the feel of fresh fabric. I do test the reds .

Well, I generally wash all my fabric when I first get it, unless I'm going to be using it for a stack-n-whack and then it is no-no to wash first. On a kit, I found out the hard way, washing first is not a good idea...fabric shrunk and I didn't have enough to make the project!

I was taught to always wash before sewing. I have since learned to use the best quality fabric I can afford (love sales) and no longer wash. I find the fabric much easier to work with.

I usually wash but sometimes get lazy... I helped my daughter finish a beautiful baby quilt with black in it. She washed it with color catchers and it bled badly!!! I had some SYNTHRAPOL which I put directly on the spots and washed again. It completely came out!!! I recommend using it to set the dye in your quilts. Thanks for the note. I had forgotten about Dharma. I used to purchase items from them. I'm going to be making some tie-dye girl's skirts using the Nie Nie pattern and it will be a good resource for my materials.

wash ---------ALWAYS ,have had lots of bleeders , beware.
Also ,you go to all the trouble of no rucking/creasing when batting and then when quilt is washed it shrinks, doesn't make sense to me.

I learned my lesson. I will from now on prewash my fabrics. I had some new red fabric put up and 2 days ago when I found it............it was in the need to be ironed. I used steam and now I have red all over my iron board. ugh!!

If it's pre-cut, I wouldn't.
